I just had this call.  He got so mad when I said I wasn't in front of my computer.  I felt it was very dodgy, glad I didn't fall for it.

It's definitely a scam. They called telling me they were from a telephone company and said that my PC had been downloading files without my knowledge. They started rambling on about a problem with my Windows. I told them I use Linux, not Windows. And they promptly hung-up on me.Calling the number tells me it's disconnected now. Perhaps they are spoofing it somewhere.

Windows Technical Support scam!!!!!!!  They came up as private and then when I asked for their number to confirm it wasn't a scam they gave this to me.  So I rang it on my mobile and a guy answered saying "windows technical support".  Ha ha!  Seriously, there is no way they would be ringing people out of the blue so it is an utter scam.

scam from an indian call centre, claims to be from some division of windows/microsoft or some other PC "doctor", claims victim's PC is infected with some virus/malware  and attempts to trick caller into allowing remote access to the victims PC, and/or giving out credit card details
