Warning. This company operates a PC scam in Australia, claiming they are operating on behalf of Microsoft and request a remote connection with you computer to 'fix the issue'

They then try to install malware on your PC and request credit card details to fix the issue.

Worried

i got a call from this company as well. He said his name was James and gave me an ID number ID617JM. He said that a lot of people in my area had reported computers crashing or running very slow. He got me to turn on my computer and type in eventvwr, which brings up a screen that showed me the error messages he was talking about. He then said I had to connect to the internet. (Hopefully) Lucky for me i was having trouble with my internet provider and couldnt do so. When i told him this, he asked if there was anyway i could get onto the internet and when I said not from this computer he hung up. I am hoping this means they didn't get a chance to get any of my information. The only reason I went as far as I did was because I am actually having troubles with the speed of my computer, but will know not to even entertain a call like that again

My parents and my fiancees parents, who are in their seventies, have received calls from this number claiming to be Tech Optimus. I have googled the company and there is no such name. Many of their elderly friends have also received the call from an asian woman and another man. It would appear that the callers are targeting older people who would have no idea that they are being scammed, due to their natural lack of computer knowledge.... Warn your parents and friends.

Not Stupid....Coffs Harbour

I am receiving these calls if not daily then every second day. I know that Microsoft does not ring so when I received the first one I just hung up, then after about 5 I started to string them along until recently I just had enough....after asking how many passwords and credit card numbers they would like I told them I knew they were scammers and out to rip people off so do not bother ringing again...so what do they do ? change their name to Tech Optimisers and off we go again !!!!
