Yes same scenario for me. I got the phone call while i am overseas, he threatened that police will come to arrest me wherever i am winthin 1 hour. The phone was hung up when i started to question the authenticity of the call. Just wonder if they got access to my phone data while i am on the phone?

Reported this to my local police station. A police woman said that they couldn't do anything about this. What can be done?

Parents got a call from this number saying they are the Tax Office and threatening arrest - scared my parents who are elderly. When I rang number I got hung up on. Are so dumb using a number that shows up on caller ID. Targeting people with landlines usually old people. Just scum. Shame on them.

Do not return the call to the number they provide, it is a computer generated number that may hack your details.

This scam is still running and they are very aggressive in getting information. ATO would NEVER call like this.

An automated message from a man with a strong British accent said I was going to be arrested for something to do with my tax. I switched my phone over to private, called the number back (I love calling a bluff) - got an Indian sounding guy, and said I needed everything in writing and to speak to his manager. Said his name was Eric Watson. He wouldn't do anything I asked. I told him I knew he was full of sh*t, and I asked him how he can sleep at night knowing that there are innocent people out there, handing over their private account details, and worrying that they'll go to jail. I recommended for him to get a real job, which may give him and his family a sense of pride every day, and he thanked me for my advice.

My client had a call just now. Recorded voice message alleging she had tax debts and had to go to court. I called this number back and of course it is a scam and very nasty person answered.
Ignore Scam!

The Australian Tax Office would never get a pathetic computer voice to call you and say you owe them tax.

Voice recorded message stating they were allegedly from quote "the Australian Federal Police". Stated I allegedly had a quote "outstanding tax bill with reference number Texas 4723" and quote "not to ignore".
I took their advice "not to ignore" by posting on this and other sites. I hope the authorities "throw the book" at these b******* if and when they catch up with them for purporting to be the police, representing a government department.
