I suspect it may be a scam: Vodafone advising I qualify for a discount of 40%, they then started asking for details and got angry when I asked them to verity my account number and my name.

Attempted scam. Supposedly Vodafone telling me I qualified for a 40% discount, and then asked me for my security PIN to proceed.
