Email scam using this call back number

I was sent a spam email claiming that I had done an online purchase of a $500 gift card from Myer. Nonsense, of course. This phone number was provided to call if I wanted to discontinue the service. I called it, was answered unprofessionally (just "Hello?"), and got the person on the other end to talk for long enough for me to determine that it was probably an Indian scammer (what a surprise!).

Recieved an email invoice saying I had bought 5 x $100 Myer e- gift cards which I hadn’t. This phone number was given as the customer support number.

I received the bullsh*t email about a gift card purchase from Myer, but called them anyway just for sh*ts and grins. They answered just saying that they were "support", a generic description suggesting that they're probably running scams with multiple pretexts. First thing they try to get from you is your phone number, obviously so that they can eliminate prank callers. They "needed" my phone number so that they could look up a record of my purchase. After I had irrefutably argued that I hadn't and don't routinely give out my phone number to Myer in order to purchase, they gave up and told me that I could visit a Myer store instead, and hung up. My phone number is hidden from display to the callee, but I've found that if you attempt to re-call them soon after, "the call cannot be connected". I don't know if that means that their line(s) are all busy, or if they temporarily suspend their number on the assumption that a prank caller is likely to try calling them again very soon. There was also no answer when I tried calling around 0900 AEDT this morning (around 0330 Indian time), so I suspect that it's likely a very amateurish scam run from the scammer's home.
