I had a call from this number today. The caller said he was a technician from Irecure and he could fix our computer problems (namely Windows problems). Is this a legit company? I felt that it was a scam and asked for the phone number and told him we would call back if necessary. It isn't necessary as we have no problems with our computers. Irecure does have a web presence at www.irecure.wordpress.com. Of course this does not mean they are a legitimate company.

I have had 8 calls from these people so far, work/home/mobile all saying the same thing as above, I work for a large IT company from home and they are telling me one of the servers on the LAn is "having errors"
Very interesting as my "LAN" consists of ONE pc, ONE router ONE adsl modem

Received a call from a lady stating the company's name is IRECURE. Told me my computer is infected and has problems and is causing problems. Wanted me to type in commands to my computer. I told her my computer is fine and she argued. I got company's phone number and told her they are scammers and hung up.

Obviously dodgy!

This was the return 'number' given to a customer of mine from persons pretending to be from Microsoft, with an urgent risk to his PC, he just needs to goto a site and run this patch. the line rings once then ends. dodgy bastards.

I've been receiving calls from somebody claiming to be from Microsoft but the number came up as5030400100 latest call was 02/14/11 2:30 CST
Mrs. Brown
This is the second time this guy has called us claiming to be some technical support from Microsoft. I keep telling him to take my name off of his list that I protect my computers and if there was a serious virus my service provider would shut me down -- Right Rogers??? Don't listen to them just hang up. This particular guy was the biggest jerk...twice in two weeks...same guy "Alex"!
Scammers
Just received my second call from 02 800 34343 'iRecure'. The usual stuff about my PC having a virus, etc. Spoke with 'Peter' (Indian voice). As mentioned in previous posts, they already had my name, phone number & address but thats nothing they couldn't get from the whitepages.
I was already well aware of this scam when I answered the call so I decided to have a bit of fun with them. Initially I let Peter explain all the bad things that were going to happen if I didn't let him help me. I then started to question 'where' he got this information, to which he could not answer and kept telling me that they are Microsoft & Cisco certified.... ok then, can I ask what Cisco certifications you have? Apparently 'he' didnt have any, the technical support guys do. So do you have any Microsoft certifications? Again, 'he' doesnt have any. So can I speak to somebody who is certified?
From here the caller tries to deflect the question and persists in trying to get me in front of my computer. I explain to Peter that I work in IT (which I do) and that I'd like clarification on the certifications that they hold and the relevance of them to this call, again he deflects the question and wants me on my computer so he can show me all the 'problems' I have. OK then, lets see where this goes...
In a very scripted fashion the caller will ask you to open the Event Viewer via Windows+R (to launch RUN command box) then enter 'eventvwr' and hit ENTER. This will launch Windows Event Viewer. They then direct you to create a custom view to show a number of alerts and errors (usually in the administrative events). All PC's will generally have numerous entries in here but the good folk at 'iRecure' will tell that this is a very bad thing and that they are here to help.
From here I assume they attempt to have the customer allow remote access to fix these 'problems' or try to sell you a product to fix it. I didnt get this far as I knew where it was going, instead I insisted to speak to one of there 'technical staff' so he could explain all of this. As I was being transferred I just hung up.
15 minutes later they called back. I had the Mrs answer and they started over. This time we told them we had a Mac and didnt have any internet connection at home so where very confused how we would of been infected with all these viruses. Apparently they have a fix for that too??? We didnt bother exploring that option. We asked them if we could call them back, to which they insisted on knowing 'when' we would call and if we didnt then they would call us back in 30 minutes (which they didn't). The would not give any surnames or staff/ID numbers to us.
Not that dumb!
I've had so called Global Tech people ring me 3 times in the last few weeks claiming there were viruses detected in the local area which could effect my computer!! The first time I told the lady (who was obviously Indian) that I wasn't that stupid and knew it was a scam and then hung up! Thinking I'd sorted them out and wouldn't have to worry about calls again...hmm...not the case. So last week when they rang again I thought I'd play the game - she asked to speak to the person who operates the computer in my household - after listening to her crap I said I actually didn't own a computer. She then hung up on me! Well they struck again today - tell you what over being harassed by cold callers and let along ones from overseas! So much for the do not call register!! So once again claiming to be from Global Tech she proceeded to tell me that I had viruses on my computer. I proceeded to tell her I was over being harassed by them and that I knew it was a scam - needless to say I didn't get to say anything else before they hung up on me! So if they were a real business they'd have to listen to what I said...not as simple as hanging up! Do these scammers not google to see people know about their stupid antics!!! Let's hope they don't ring back again - otherwise think I won't hold back! Some people really are stupid if they keep ringing the same people!! Get a life I say!
