Caller: Person claiming to represent Vodaphone Received call from this number twice recently without a connection occurring. I assumed it was a scam call, but on the third call I wanted to find out for sure who it was if possible. I had a long conversation and I now believe it really was a call from Vodaphone about the looming 000 problem. I asked him about the inconsistency between what Samsung has published and what messages I've received from my provider Kogan (partnered with Vodaphone) about the need for me to buy a replacement phone by December 15th. He was sympathetic about it all but couldn't provide any helpful answers except to repeat that I needed to organise a replacement phone. He gave me Kogan's customer service number and suggested I call them soon. I was only asked for my first name, no other personal information. Although it's still possible that the call is part of a scam and so one still needs to be cautious, on balance I think that this call was genuine.

Caller: Vodafone Got a call from this number in relation to my phone being too old and not being supported as off December 2025 (it's a 3G, not 5G phone). The person on the phone said that Vodafone are sending out free mobile phones to their customers (I've been with them for years) and asked for my name and address. I was skeptical but I gave the info. I was on high alert though and was ready to hang up if she asked for anything further like DOB. She didn't though. She took the details and said that I should get the hand set in 5 days. After this call ended, I called up Vodafone line and asked them to check the records if anyone called me from their office. They checked and said that there are no records of anyone from Vodafone calling me about the phone offer. Based on this, I changed my Vodafone Account PIN to make sure it's safe. I'm still not sure what the purpose of the scam was as all I gave them was my name and address. I'm normally super vigilant and can see a scammer a mile away but the timing of the call was impeccable. How TF did they know that my phone needed an update? Time will tell if I got scammed or not.

I called the real TPG to verify whether this number was real or not. It is not. This is a scam. It is also not Vodaphone as people are saying. The carrier is SOUL PATTINSON PTY LTD which is a hotbed of scammer activity.
