Caller: ATO

Got a call from an automated teller that you are in violation of ATO tax rules. You need to immediately contact any of ATO officer. To reach to an officer NOW, press 1.

I pressed 1 and a lady in Indian accent picked up the phone. She then tells me that I have violated ATO rules. She then asked me for my first & last name, tax file number and my residence address. During this time she got annoyed that my voice was not clear. I asked her if ATO was using internet based connection as the line quality was poor and there was considerable delay (overseas ;) ).

After that she tells me that I will soon be tried in the CommonWealth court of law.
I objected that no notification has been delivered to me. To that she said our agents came to deliver it to you on 4th of January 2019 but that morning you were not in home. But she acknowledges that it is not your fault and in that she will now assist.

She then says, I have a pending ARREST WARRANT against you and to delay it you need to pay the fee. Can I have the debit card. On that I hesitated and she immediately switched to her mother tongue (not Hindi was some other Indian language) and spoke few abusive terms and hung the phone.

Rubbish. Ignore the call
