I keep getting calls from this number also. Thanks for the information posted by others who have had the same calls.

Checked with accountant. Told me to ring ATO 1800_008_540 and report it. Have done so.

i was called today and DONT WORRY IT IS DEFINATLEY A SCAM!!! I rlly hope the police catch these suckers

I got this call too, and they left a voicemail that sounded like a robot from the ATO office!! It says warning about your taxation, and I've never late filing my tax return, and I even use an Accountant!! I called back, and it went to a recorded voicemessage box of an extension. Definitely a scam!! BEWARE!

Definite scam. Hubby and I have had several calls on our mobiles last couple of days from "ATO". Return call in 8 hours or else crap".....

We got a call from this number today, a recording that claims to be from the tax office. We are not going to bother replying, if the tax office was actually trying to contact us, they would write a letter. Even they are not greedy enough to make these kind of calls.

My sister just received a message which also indicated it was the Tax department and there is a problem and she needs to ring them back. If she doesn't ring they indicated she would need to get legal advice. Obviously a scam and I would expect when you ring back they would be asking for bank details etc

Automated voice claiming to be from the Australian Taxation office requesting a call-back to urgently supply personal information. Smells like a scam.
