message from "ATO" saying there was a lawsuit issued against us and we would be responsible for costs if we didn't return the call

Claims to be Taxation Office saying Lawsuit against your name. Spoke to ATO and they have notified.

received a v mail that spoke like a robot claiming i had legal issues against my name and i needed to call back in order to not face heavy consequences.
who in their right mind would call back? this is utterly ridiculous that in 2017 not only do people fall for this but that its happening in the first place! when my phone rang it said the call was from Canberra ato, how do scammers get away with this sh*t?

Don't call this number back, they are pinging to see if they can verify your number, this is not the ATO

Called about 11 am - when pick up can hear noises from a call centre in the background but no body talks to you

Called today. No voice for ten seconds, then a robot woman's voice saying good bye and a beep. Disconnected. Treating this as a scum caller to establish if there's a live person to call again. Blocking this as it's not local and therefore doesn't want my business.
