The caller from this no said he is from ATO but when I hung up & tried to call back no one picked up ,it is scam,the person was trying to pretend that he is Australian but his accent was fake & the call also seems to be made from overseas, be careful don't give any details & hangup.

Got a call from this number minutes ago and sure it was a prank call. Tried to scare me by saying that ATO has lodged a case against me that is going to court tomorrow morning and police would arrest me bla bla bla...

Guys don't disclose your personal info and don't pay any money. Its just a scare tactic to get some money out of you.

Spoke to my accountant immediately after the call and he said ATO never makes such calls. They always send a letter.

Got a call from this number today. Some Steve Marshall called me pretending to be from ATO Crime Investigation Unit. Tried to give me a case number saying police would arrest me as I have not paid the correct taxes. He did not ask me for my address ot DOB so I got suspicious. When I asked him to provide his ID and his supervisors number, he refused. I told him that I'll call him back on this number he refused that too saying it was a three-way conference and calling back is not possible. I hung-up anyway and called back that number. I tried about 10 times but every time it got cut-off after 2 rings. Finally someone picked up and said the same things that "Steve" (the first caller has said) and hung-up again when I asked to provide his ID etc.

I called my accountant and he said it was a fake call. ATO never makes such calls. They always send a letter and even is rare cases when they call, they just don't start talking to who-ever picks up the phone. They make sure that they are talking to the right person before disclosing any sensitive info.

Be carrful guys and don't share your personal info like DOB and do not pay any money.

I will try to find if there is a way to report this to ATO or police.
