Yep got the same scam call as per the posts above. Quite unnerving at first. But was confident the ato would never contact you like this.

This is a scam.

I received a call from this number, with a recorded message about tax evasion. As my name was not mentioned, and I am not required to submit a tax return, I was suspicious enough to look up the number on the internet, and feel relieved that it seems to be a scam, and other people are receiving similar calls.

Thankyou to this website, I just had a voice message saying i had been flagged for an audit and that due to unsigned documents being returned unsigned a warrent for my arrest had been issued.

Caller: ATO (Apparently)

got a call.....definitely a scam. Said it was from the ATO and that I am going to be prosecuted.

Ditto with the above. No tax avoidance here so I agree this is some dirt bags doing a scam.

Automated TAX Scam. Saying I avoided paying tax and a warrant was being put out for my arrest.

Received an automated call from this number saying my account had been flagged for tax avoidance.
Contacted the ATO separately on their 13 28 61 number and they confirmed no one had tried to contact me and it was definitely a scam

They left a voice message for my wife, as if a recorded voice, telling that she has avoided paying tax. Bullsh*t

Yes just got this automated Vmail morning. When called after 5pm, line was dead.

thanks for all the other messages , letting everyone know. I suspected its fraud, but feel better now.

Posing as ATO stating that I owe money and could be arrested. Old scam. They call me every year but on a different number each year.

Scam. Automated message claiming to be ATO and asking to call back. Do not call back. Probably redirected to a paid number where you will simply find excess charges on your next phone bill.

Automated scam. Do not call back.
