I got the same message today

Got a call today from Officer Peter Williams from CDPP and our place is under surveillance and call this number for help before legal action is taken. Rang the ATO and he told me it is a scam.

Received exactly the same message as posted, what a load of crap!

Same here. Message was left this morning saying that they were calling on behalf of the CDPP and the ATO. Some bollocks about there being an arrest warrant and that my address is under surveillance and that I should call this number before the arrest warrant was downloaded into some system.

Rang the number back, it takes a while but redirects to a call-centre staffed by people with Indian accents. Line quality was terrible and I was put on hold when I tried to get more info from them before I told them which number i was calling from. Didn't spend any more time and hung up.

Also got this recorded message, 3 times. Having worked with both the CDPP and the ATO I call BS SCAM

Just checked reverseau site and this is confirmed scam.

Definite scam - wot a sleaze. No doubt some poor soles would have the #&^% scared out of them by this sort of thing.

If you receive a call from this number, please go to CDPP.gov.au and find their contact number. This is a scam, and the CDPP are putting together a list of people that call to pass onto the AFP, who are investigating these calls.

LEFT A MSG ON MY ANS MACHINE SAYING ONE "PETER WILLIAMS" REPRESENTING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE AUST TAX OFFICE NEEDED TO CONTACT ME (OR SOMEONE ...NO NAME GIVEN) BEFORE CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS WERE INSTIGATED. DIDN'T SAY WHAT.
I DID NOT RESPOND. I AM CERTAIN THIS IS A SCAM AS I HAVE GOOGLED A.T.O SCAMS AND FOUND MANY PARALLELS WITH THIS CALL.
I WILL UPDATE THIS MESSAGE IF THIS TURNS OUT TO BE GENUINE.
