Same as other comments. ATO saying I need to call them regarding tax evasion/tax fraud. Said I have to call before the next morning
to avoid being arrested. Bit odd as my tax returns are done by a personal friend who is a supervisor out at the ATO and they are always
the most basic of tax returns that are always accepted by the ATO and I always end up with a minor ($100) refund but never more and never do I need to pay them. In any case, I just rang the number and got the same woman who left the message. She said she works for the Department of Public Prosecutions. It sounded very sus so I asked her for her name, the department she worked in and for the main switchboard number so I could call her back and verify she was who she said she was. At this point, she hung up. THIS IS SOMEONE/A SYNDICATE PRAYING ON PEOPLE. I believe they are trying to scare people into sending them money to clear up this
"tax evasion/fraud" so I am reporting them now to the DPP and to the Police as these people WILL find elderly, vulnerable who WILL fall for their scam and rip people off. Will Post again when I find out more. THIS IS A SCAM. THIS IS A SCAM. THIS IS A SCAM

Left 2 messages on my unlisted home phone number. Recorded voice from ATO telling me to call this number. When I attempted to call back I recieved a recorded message saying this service isn't available.

Received a call from (02) 6152 8672. Had the same experience as narrated by the other folks. Jesse Campbell claiming to be from ATO informing me that there is a case of tax fraud and i need to resolve this within the next 2 hours or else there will be an arrest warrant issued to Police.. I had my sister int he car with me and she was switched an smart and checked up the number on reverse australia and found this guy was a fraudster. by that time i had already worked out that this was a fraud and hung up . he tried to call me again and i didnt bother picking up

Got the same. Didn't respond, went straight to Reverse Australia as usual. Thanks.

My location is Brisbane, similar threat message, does not use my name, does not make sense. Caller speaks about county courts and it being very serious, really quite nasty. Definitely a scam. They prey on the vulnerable. I will not be calling any such number.

had the same call on Friday 14 Aug. Same thing,"you or your criminal lawyer need to ring or you will be arrested."

Left message on my phone on Thursday, 6 Aug 2015. Recorded voice saying from ATO and I needed to call this number to clear up some error. Said the matter was time sensitive.
