I have also had a call with a recorded message calling from the Tax Office about a legal charge of fraud against my name. I rang this number. This foreign speaking man answered call and said all this stuff about freezing my accounts, seizing my house and a warrant would be out for my arrest. I told him he was the one committing fraud and he hung up on me.

We had the same call this morning. I rang it back and an australian voice answered simply hello. the fraud department of the taxation office is very casual these days.

Read all these messages while i was on the phone to them. Told them i knew it was a scam and they should be ashamed of their self. Hung up & called official ATO number and reported it. Was also advised that they would never do that. 1st mode of contact is always in letter form (no phone call or email) hope no one falls into this trap.

Asking about credit card details

Same thing happened to me about a month ago and then they have rung this week to leave a message about the tax fraud. there has been a news story on today tonight about these people. An elderly lady gave then over $4000. Why won't someone stop them.

This number has called me three times today stating he was from the tax office. Don't fall for it - I called them liars, fraudsters and hung up on them. Why people continue to fall for it is beyond me

My mum also received this call today - disgusting my father died earlier this year and they tried to tell her she needed a criminal lawyer as she was being sued, my mum was in a panicked state all day until I found this - I will be contacting ATO tomorrow to report this.

I never trust or answer any numbers I don't know. Msg sounded sus. Thank god for sites like this!

It's a scam

I just received a call from this number, they left a computer generated message on my phone saying the same as above, its Ron Watson Australian Taxation Office and I am being sued for taxation fraud and to call before I get arrested.

I have had two of these calls today............they are persistent if nothing else

Ditto... Mr Watson has a lot to answer for...

So this phone number has been active since 16 September. I was left message from Ron Watson ATO Legal Department - advised ATO who is passing on to police who will investigate further and have Telstra stop service. Just checked and still in action. It seem Telstra has a lot to answer for. How are they allocating telephone numbers 02-6145 XXXX (Canberra numbers) for illegal purposes - surely legitimate ID etc is necessary to have Australian telephone number allocated?

just has this call come in thought is was weird apparently i committed fraud so i rang back and asked who he was and where he was situated, he hung up on me.

Called once claiming that the ATO was suing us. Then rang back and said 'F%&@ of you idiot.' When I asked who is speaking

"Have 3 messages yesterday saying this is Ron Watson calling from the Tax Office about a legal charge of fraud against my name. No name of who he thinks he is talking to is mentioned".

Sounds American and uses American terms. I too am ignoring this.

Just another scam told him I didn't believe him then he hung up.

This number has called several times today and left messages - artificially generated voice saying I have attempted tax fraud. Gives a Sydney number but phone identifies it as coming from overseas. Scam.
