Indian (or similarly accented person) "Eric Foster" doing the ATO tax fraud scam with a recorded message.

I called back, to be told by the same guy that "Eric" was not available, but that he, "James Anderson", would handle the case. He said I had committed tax fraud and threatened lawsuits and jail time courtesy of the Federal Police. When I said, "bring it on", he said he was signing the necessary papers and hung up.

Left a very threatening message on my 96 year-old mother's phone saying there was "a file opened against you and you will face harsh legal consequences". Told to call Eric Foster and signed off saying "have a blessed day"....that's a real give away that he is probably in Nigeria! No one in Australia or certainly not a professional person says that!

This must be the new scam for 2017. A recorded message was left on my answering machine threatening me with legal action. Yeah yeah sure....

They went on to say I had to go to Coles or Woolworths and buy $2000 worth of Apple iTunes cards to settle my tax debt!!!

Similar to others, had a recorded message from "Eric Foster" a guy with an Indian accent supposedly from ATO requesting I call back to discuss serious matter. Obviously I did not call back but you can bet it is a SCAM

Had call from Eric Foster ( Good Indian Name) from tax office as above.

Eric Foster (Indian accent) from ATO (scam) try blocking the number but they used another number to call... reported to ATO about these numbers

similar to others, had a call from a guy with an indian accent supposedly ATO and saying that i had a debt (which i do) and that if i get money from family members or out of my superannuation to call him and he can give me a discount. also said not to tell me anyone why i needed the money. Knew it was a scam right away. when i asked for his name and employee number he gave me some numbers and even a warrant number which i knew then it was rubbish as i dont have a warrent against me.

Just received this too... I like how they mentioned that a serious lawsuit against my name, but didn't mention my name.

A recorded voice stating that an ATO investigation was underway and that to avoid legal costs I would have to return his call. Is this Asian voice so incredulous that he thinks anyone would believe or his spiel.

I have the same problem this problem. I got a call from this number and I spoke to Eric Foster asking me to pay outstanding tax due otherwise he will proceed to file awaarent against. I tried to get more information, he refused. I reported him to taxation office and they will take action. Meantime ATO asked me to hang up on this number should they ring again.

Got a message from Eric Foster - supposedly from the ATO claiming an investigation is happening and arrest warrant will be issued etc. Asian or indian accent.
Total scam. Have receive similar calls using different number - also claiming similar threats from Eric Foster.
He at least said "God bless and have a nice day?!"

ATO scam line

Rec'd automated call from the "Australian Tax Office". Asian voice on the recording. I didn't wait to see what it said I just hung up. Put it down to scam.

A prerecorded voice with an Indian accent claiming to be from the ATO and trying to scam you out of your money.

Indian/Filipino voice telling you that there is a serious lawsuit against your name. Just scammers.
