Got a phone message (American accent) from a private number asking me to call this number stating that a legal suite had been filed and I was up for tax evasion. I am sure that the tax office can make their own phone calls.

This is still happening I received exactly the same text to speech recording..."... legal department of the Australian Taxation Office... received an affidavit against your name... being listed as the primary suspect for the case being filed against your name... your house is under surveillance." Glad you all posted similarly, I was pretty terrified for a second!

Got a call from "Xavier King" on this number about a law suit and tax evasion. As soon as I asked more questions, he hung up on me. I called back and he hung up on me again.

The man had an Indian accent.

Same thing happened to me. I'm sure it's a scam and won't be ringing the number. The ATO would contact you by mail anyway.

Got the voice mail, it shows an recording I got some legal issues, "you are one of the primary suspect in an case been filed and your house is under surveiliance." So ridiculous someone did this scam, but gladly to check the number here.

I have received the same message to call back to Xavier King and he gave me his number 407861, cannot hang up, have to go to the post office and buy the vouchers from ALIPAY, the issue was that he had the right amount that I do owe the tax office. Luckily my post office guy warned me that Alipay is often used for fraud. I walked home with him hanging on the phone, looked this up and hung up on him.

Apparently I'm under investigation by government Legal Department and my house has been put under surveillance, I am to call back and address the issue immediately.
Fairly sure was a scam call, but called back anyway to find out more - they didn't even pick up. After the call was redirected multiple times ( I could hear the ring tone pattern changing ) probably offshore, it just disconnected.
Would love for the police to arrest these idiots for harassing so many people.

Yep, I can confirm this is a scam. rang them through my computer with an overseas VPN number. Tax scam for sure 👍

Same thing happened to me today. recorded message had left a message on my phone so I called back. I didnt know it was spam but number didn't connect and just dropped out. when I got back to my desk, I googled the number and realised that this was spam. Thanks everyone for posting!

I don't know why the police do nothing about this. They should be in Jail.

I just called this guy and said that I was calling from post office, I had $10K transfer on his name, but because the name was spelled incorrectly I cannot release the funds, until he visits nearest police department and prove his ID.

Looks like our friends are having fun again. Apparently they got my details form the domain registrar. I specially misspelled my surname and they called my by that surname.

Got a call too. Had me fooled a stressed for 5 minutes, but when he started to give me the 'out' of just paying the outstanding, I started to wonder, then he hung up.
