i just received the same 'ATO' call regarding my lucky day in receiving $10,000. it took him 4 goes to give me a reference number, and each time it was slighly different, (yes i was having him on). he asked me to call (02) 6100 4097 and said his name was Chris, which i thought was strange considering his very heavy south asian accent. called from a blocked number,

I also received a call and the call back number left was (02) 6100 4079 and Sam Watson was the guy who answered. I also received other calls few weeks ago regarding Hydro energy saver. It checked out to be all a scam. Any Indian accent is a scam ding ding papadum ding!!!

Same here. Obviously I am not going to call back, although tempted.

Sam watson answered this number.... Tried to speak in australian accent.... But failed at times because his indian accent was popping out in between.

received the exact same call. asking me to transfer 250 dollars to a unicef account thru western union in order to get 7000 dollars. clearly a scam

I received a call this evening from an African (by accent) man, saying that he was calling from ATO Canberra. According to his statement, I am one of the lucky owner for a Government grant of $7000.I had been told that the government selected the people based on the good credit ranking and paying the tax properly over last several years. It's a confidential grant program from the government and that's why it didn't publish into the news earlier. I also been given a reference number and contact number (02) 6100 4079) to call, talk with the senior officials and claim the money.
