Got a call from this Automated Message Service (male computer voice) stating that the ATO was investigating me for Tax Fraud. Demanded that I return the call or retain a lawyer to negotiate on my behalf. I called the ATO directly, and they stated it's a scam that's been running since June 2015. Total SCAM.

I got the same call, he said he was from the ATO claimed his name was John McLean ( die hard) with a thick Indian accent. He also claimed I committed tax fraud and tried to scam 2900 dollars out me. I think they used Linked in to get my details because I have abbreviated name on linked in and the Ato would have used my full name.

Same thing happenned to me. Scam.

I received the same call yesterday at 330pm ! Called the number back & just rang out!

Had a call yesterday, just like in previous comment. It seems these scammers are too cowardly, or can't afford, to put a real person on the phone. They use a recorded message to try and intimidate people. I didn't wait until the end of their message - just hung up when I realized it was a scam recording!

today they called me and said they are investigating me and when I call back no reply. I will call ato to verified .

I received the same call, sounded very scammy to me.

I got the same message as Kerry - an automated message pretending to be from the Tax Office - it is clearly a scam so don't give them any details.

Received the same call while ago.
They said they sent 3 letters (I never received) and now I have to decide to go into court action or negotiate outside court.
I called ATO and make sure that I have no outstanding.
Totally SCAM.
