Call received from 'Rachel Morgan' (Indian person) stating that as a good citizen with no criminal record I would be eligible for a tax free grant of $7000 from the ATO. I had to ring (02) 6100 8155 and give a reference number A641. Sounded like a scam but decided to ring anyway without giving details to them. Another Indian answered. I gave the reference number and was put on hold. The person came back and said that I was to be given a cheque when I took a 6 digit social security number to the bank manager of a branch if the NAB, Commonwealth or Westpac. To get the number I had to donate a minimum of $290 to UNICEF. I would then be given a receipt number and could then ring this person back and would be given the 6 digit number. I said it must be a scam and asked to talk to the supervisor and she said that she was the supervisor. A well organised scam. Feel sorry for those who go through with it.
