Scammers- Newcastle number Called offering 45% discount on my Telstra account , had all my details (obviously received data from a breach into a company file) sent security codes to convince me they were legitimate. They tried to change the number on my mobile phone and registered email with Telstra. .Just lucky Telstra sent notification they were charging my details. I rang them and they put me through to the fraud squad.

I was called by this number today and they said the same thing, offering a discount on my Telstra bill. Had my name, mobile and email. Definitely a scam

Caller: Provider of number is Emerge Internet P/L

This is a scammer from Mulbring, NSW near Newcastle 2323. This small town with a population of only 597 makes me suspicious that the scammers are not in Australia m, possibly data breach like Medicare private or Telstra etc as we hear from politicians that Russia and China are attacking our network to use against us. It might be spoofed by the overseas scammers that manipulate the numbers do it looks local, luckily they don’t research location and seeing a small town I investigated and got the information via numerous sites. Stay vigilant and safe, never open messages they send and always say you’re busy and will call back. Then block and call the company they pretend to be and let them know.

Today they called me said exactly same thing. Now I know it’s fraud. thanks
