Rang only for a short time. Disconnected when I rang back. My phone said it was from Newcastle.

This call purported to be from Newcastle. However it is via proxy service (Symentec) to make it look as though it originates from Australia at that location. It is one of those silent calls. These proxy services have a lot to answer for in perpetuating these nuisance scam calls.

Robocaller checking for active numbers

Called claiming to be Bendigo bank - when I questioned the validity of the call he said "as you can see if you check the Bendigo website this is the same number." I said it wasn't the same. He was like "oh no, I've called you from my personal extension, let me get back to you with the correct number." Then called back with a phone number that was exactly the same as the Bendigo bank line!! Aside from calling from the wrong number initially it seems to be a really well set up scam, he even put me through to his 'supervisor.'

Still being used for spaming calls on 23 March 2023.

Like others, hung up after 2 rings and supposedly from Newcastle. Thanks to everyone else for posting - I will block number.

Inconsistent with a regular Newcastle phone number (e.g. 0249), rang twice then stopped. Needs to be shut down.

Call started with a beep and a Chinese man spoke to me, said something about DHA delivery and when I asked in English how he got my number he asked if I can speak in Chinese, I repeated my question in English and he promptly hung up. BIG SCAM

This call number appeared on my phone as being from Newcastle. When I picked up, it was silent. Presumably a Robocaller looking for active numbers. Regret that I picked up so soon after the ring.
