Caller: Caritas

A very clever Irish lady pretending to be from Caritas, giving me an unsolicited call trying to scam me into sending them my bank details to do a direct debit. This would fool almost anyone. The fact, that she persisted beyond what is normal for a charity caller, used all of the obvious manipulation tactics, and was unable to do anything to verify that she was calling from caritas made it very suspicious. All she could do was read out details that were leaked in a Caritas data breach. Nobody else I know who has donated to caritas gets these calls. I’ve had two now. Almost a masterclass in social engineering if I hadn’t been onto her from the start. Anyway. Dear Irish lady. I realise you may not have been Irish either as AI voice changing is amazing now. If you are reading this, please know I am onto you. From one Irish person to another, we have to look after each other in this world. Don’t use charities as a way to make money. You said “1000 babies die every day - we don’t want that do we?” Lady, those babies didn’t die so they you could use them to make a quick buck. May their little souls rest in peace. Irish lady I hope they you find some inner peace and do something else completely.
