Caller type: Scam call
Location: Australia
Caller: Claimed to be from Amazon

Claimed to be investigating a suspicious transaction on my Amazon account. Asked for email address linked with the account, phone numbers, last four digits of card associated with the account and bank. Upon further discussion they "found" a transaction on $1600 worth of computer goods to be delivered tomorrow to a New York City address, with a further five transactions from different states in the US. Asked if they were mine, and went through a few security questions.

After all this, they said that to sort it out, and stop the transaction from being debited from my credit card, they would need to transfer me to my bank (alarm bells were ringing, because if the purchase was due to be delivered tomorrow, it would have already come out of my account, and I hadn't disclosed my bank, so how were they going to transfer me?). Before they could transfer me, however, they just needed a little more information starting with the three security digits on the back of my credit card. I laughed at them and hung up.
