Caller claims to be from the technical department of Telstra, Can not provide any account details and hangs up if asked to. Asks to speak with the main account holder but does not know who that is.

Women claimed to be from Telstra and that my computer was being corrupted. I asked what could be done and was transferred to her male supervisor who gave me a Telstra ID # and phone number. At this point I asked for details of my contracts with Telstra and he gave an incorrect surname. At this point I hung up.

Missed the call. Thank goodness.

Caller: "Pete Cobb" supposedly from Telstra

Gave his phone number as 852 3192 7420 and his Telstra employee number as 9635. Told me I had internet problems. Got me to check how many lights are on the NBN modem. After I kept him on the line for 10 minutes, he swore at me and hung up.

Caller: 085231927420 Asian woman " from Telstra"

Asian woman from "Telstra" !!!!!!! --- any number that is longer than 8- I repeat eight number are scammers all Australian regular numbers are eight numbers if there longer its because their calling from over seas.

Me Too ! I get a call from scammers once a week. So far I have stored 21 scammer numbers on my home phone. They keep on coming ! Now they get the answer machine. I am on the DND list and have a silent (sic) number. Too many loopholes in the DND policies. We could do with some help here Telstra !

Caller: Indian man with a 1" cock

I knew this was a scam so didn't answer. Keeps calling so I picked up. Indian man at the other end said I had problem with my internet and asked how many green lights are on modem. As I have NBN it controls internet+phone so if there was a problem my phone would also be dead, but of course it's working just fine. I told the loser at the other end NO lights were on and he said ok we can help you. Then asked me to type some stuff on my PC pointing the browser to a web site.... yep that's right, my internet is supposed to be not working but a**hole tells me to go to a web site! LOL!!! Then I hung up.

Caller: A John Williams, Indian accent, said from Telstra

Said our internet had been broken into but could not give me my first name or date of birth. He rang from (03) 5868 7863. When I asked for a direct line no. to ring back he wouldn't give me a number , said he couldn't. My response, you want to get into my computer and yet you won't give me a land line. Finally gave me the number above and called it but not connected. A scam.

Caller: James Grey ?

I received a call from "Telstra" saying my IP address was public and should be on private, and my computer was slow (funny as I was actually on it and didn't appear to have any issues). When I asked him to identify himself and a number to call back on, he gave me this phone number. When I asked to speak to his supervisor he transferred me (handed the phone over) to another guy and gave me a call back number of 0431 592 411 when I queried the number he hung up!

Caller: Steve Bok of Telstra

Guy calling himself Steve Bok of Telstra Technical Support said that my internet service was being accessed 3.30am today. Wouldn't take no for an answer. Said neighbors may be trying to use my internet. He directed me to Event viewer, Custom view and showed me 3618 records of attempts to access my internet. Was starting to get very convincing. He was saying he wanted to fix my internet problem and delete the hack attempts. When McAFEE warning came up I told him I wasn't going any further. He was really pushy insisting that by deleting the McAFEE screen and thereby deleting McAFEE that my problems would be solved, and that McAfee would still be loaded on computer.
HE LISTENED WHILE I CHALLENGED WHAT HE WAS DOING AND I WANTED TO VERIFY HIS IDENTITY AND HIS AUTHORITY. HE DIDN'T GIVE ME THE NAME OF A SUPERVISOR TO SPEAK TO WITH. HE GAVE ME A NUMBER DIRECT TO HIMSELF (02) 8280 7111 AND A NUMBER SUPPOSEDLY TO TELSTRA - 0085231927420. No connection on supposed Telstra number. Didn't bother with the other number.

This guy was good , very convincing. BEWARE

Caller: Steve Bok

Call from Indian sounding guy, called himself Steve Bok, saying he was from Telstra technical Support. Telstra had information that my internet service was trying to be hacked. He was very forceful in the way he was ordering me to look at modem and lights and then access computer. I am very wary of scams since I got done last year.

The guy directed me to event viewer custom views to see the number of errors recorded. There were 3618 shown. Now starting to get suspicious. Some of these messages go back to August last year. Since being hacked I started new internet address phone etc which was well after August. and coming more and more convincing. He then directed me on a path to delete all these hack attempts and fix the problem.
McAfee security screen came up alerting me that the site, he was directing me to was suspicious. I stopped there. I told the guy for I wanted a phone number to ring so I could confirm his identity. Eventually he gave me 0085231927420. I challenged him about the number. he also gave me (02) 8280 7111 as a direct line to him. He also gave me a Telstra job number T77613. Wouldn't give me a supervisors name.

This guy was about the best and most convincing scam artist I've the misfortune to come across. After reading the comments on this site I rang the number starting with 0085 and telstra message could not be connected. I went back to custom view and all, but one error message gone.

Asian female claims to be from the technical department of Telstra, calling on a Aus mobile number 0426 433 544 gave this phone number as the Telstra help desk....then hangs up while I was goggling. 100% a spam call.

Caller: (02) 8357 9957

Caller said he is with Telstra's call blocking service. Said his name is Ron Davis and that his job is "Senior Supervisor", and that his office number is 85231927420. About 15 minutes later I had a "No Caller ID" call from a fellow who said he was with ANZ bank checking a suspicious attempt to debit my account for $500.00

Caller: Raneep

Claimed to be from Telstra, making updates to our internet as it requires maintenance. If I verified my account it would be fixed in 30 minutes. When I asked for a number to call back on, I was told to call Telstra Customer Support. I asked for the direct number to the employee and was given 00 852 3192 7420. When I said that wasn't an Australian number, they hung up.

Yep claims to be from Telstra, internet issues. Foreign IP address can see everything we're doing online. Started to get aggressive when I questioned why I was being contacted. Should have played along for half an hour, given them wrong info and waster their time same way they're wasting mine. Friggin scammers.

Please beware. Guy said his name is David Gomes. Gave me an employer number similar to all other complaints written here. Kept questioning him and he got aggravated. Definitely a scam. Says your Internet address is being used overseas and needs to be fixed straight away. Hang Up on him!

Do not tell them anything!!!! I believed them up until they told me to open my bank account and share with them my information. When i questioned why they needed my bank details they said they needed to transfer me money and if i didn't want to use my bank account to download cyrpto... Couldn't give me a name and waited 5 minutes for him to provide a phone number. I repeat, do not tell them anything!

Caller: Telstra technical department

I receive these calls several times a day, today I decided to see how long I could keep "Lion" on the phone. I told him I was blind and in a wheelchair (I am not) I asked him how old he was , if he was married and if he was from India and tried to talk to him about the terrible situation in India with Covid at the moment, but he said was in Melbourne ,Australia and was not from India (really??) . I laid the disability stuff on him very thickly to see if he would show any compassion. He ended up telling me that he would give me a number for my son to ring so he could help him get the "terrible , evil, scammers off my computer" The number he gave me was 85231927420 which I see is mentioned here several times! I told him I had a grand daughter who was his age and I thought that they would like each other because he sounded like such a nice boy and he was trying to help me and I had a terminal illness and not long to live. Anyway I kept him going for 15 minutes and he wished me well at the end. Now I have often got angry at these scammers, but then I thought about how hard it is for people to get jobs in some of these third world countries and sometimes a call centre is the only place they can find employment and that yelling and swearing at them was only making me feel bad as well. So, I have decided that I would have a competition with myself to see how much information I could get from the people who ring ( but not the ones from the FBI who want to arrest me for not paying taxes) Anyone else is welcome to see how long they can keep them going as well!
