Yep this another one of those scams. Your web browser freezes and says you have a virus (which is not true) it says to call this number. Really wish our authorities would start taking care of these scams there's so many now.
Don't call the number or if you do, waste their time with a prank but never follow their instructions.
As for browser simply run task manager and end browsing task. Or reset computer.

This happened to me too, a pop up came with a message to say that a virus had just been injected into my computer and to call that number immediately., to get it taken off. But because I had just got 'Norton 360' anti virus installed a few days ago, I thought ii'd google the number instead of calling it

Don't call the number. Claims to be Lets Fix Tech Support, Nick Simons, located at L26 44 Market St Sydney. (Can someone in Sydney check to see if anyone is actually there.) Asks to allow remote access. DON'T Allow.

Had the same issue. Pop up in Internet explorer told me a Trojan virus had taken over my computer and to call this number. They claimed to be a reputable company called Mycheckup.com. I kept them on the phone while I googled them and was convinced it was a scam. I also used task manager to close explorer and rebooted my computer. All seems to be ok.

I was on the Popcorn Flix website when this pop-up appeared, from a company claiming Windows Support in its name, with threatening voice-over, and "call this number 1800 757 326". Prior to that Malwarebytes had several warning pop-ups.

Anne - Only a single action is needed. Phone a local Computer Technician, make an appointment, take your laptop/PC to him (her) . Save money, save time. In 12 months time you will have the same problem (mysteriously) Those curry scumbags are going to lock your system, and ask you to pay more. I never know anyone who can fix their computer by themselves. You are the perfect victim of this online scam

I was scammed too. The message on the computer was that he was from Microsoft, calling himself Shaun Maxwell!! So it's till operating in March 2017. I was home alone and did everything they asked me to do including taking control of the computer. Paid them $350. I was shaking the whole time but he was assuring me he was genuine. Computer technician has since corrected everything. Still not sure what to do if they lock my computer again. This has been most distressing. Can anyone advise?

They have a new number and it's 180401434. I was also given this number (02) 8417 2117. I've been trying to contact them all day as i paid $350 yesterday about 6pm I was told to go to Woolworths and get a woolworths Visa card prepaid and the tech would fix the computer while i was away. They removed the software that i had and downloaded AVG. The software works but i still haven't received an email with the receipt. They called themselves Letsfix computers .

DO NOT call this number it appeared when I was browsing and said a virus was detected and to call the number 1800 757 326 to ensure my finances were not hacked. Called the number and a strange voice answered stating in an almost comical tone "your call is important to us" at that point I hung as I did not want to be traced even though I have silent number.
