Got the "Your computer has been blocked" and other messages as posted here today. Switched pc off immediately. Hope no virus has been planted. Anyone knows if it is safe to turn the pc back on? Do I have to run a virus scan?

Also received this message on our son's Macbook. He called me and I was immediately suspicious and called the number which was answered by a guy with an Indian sounding accent. He wanted access to you computer to fix the problem which made me even more suspicious and after a couple of questions from me he hung up. Googled the number and found the feedback on this website which for me confirmed it is a scam

It's a scam, and if you take a look at this YouTube video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIU4496U624

... you can see an Australian scambaiter challenge and expose the scam. (I'm not the scambaiter in the video, but I too have scambaited similar scammers.)

I got a message on my computer flashing that my computer has been infected with a virus and all information has been stolen. To ring this number and they will 'help' me fix it up. It looks like a scam.
