I feel embarrassed as I thought I had a legitimate problem when the pop up appeared and froze my computer. I rang the number and this phoney with an Indian accent kindly helped me by gaining remote access to my computer by telling me to press the windows icon on my laptop at the same time with the letter R. To cut a long story short, I was fooled and they had good written English skills so I didn't think it was a scam. They pretended I had a multitude of things that had stopped working and asked me to pay $299 to have this fixed. They pretended they were from Microsoft originally and their website went to 123 Rescue Tech Support. They were put out I didn't offer any credit details. I downloaded malware bytes and they detected two threats, these were things I noticed they had typed in when they gained access remote. Hopefully my computer is not infected. It seems to be okay.

They tried their scam on me, but fortunately I realised the scam and simply turned off my laptop then after a few minutes turned it back on and the error was gone. But I called the number 1800 649 546) and gave them a piece of my angry mind (yes, I used lots of swear words lol) because I just can't stand scammers who take advantage of innocent gullible people.

I suspect this is a scam similar to the microsoft tech support one straight away he knew what browser I was using (which was incorrect by the way) I did pass on the error code that was given I hope that in itself didn't give him access
