My husband received invoices for advertising in emergency services magazine that he didn’t authorise. Phone calls to ESM we’re met by recorded message. A bit of detective work led to Boothbook and David Grey. His emails are convincing and threaten a collection agency. Thankfully I found this site. Hoping this will die away after I report to ACCC and scamwatch.gov.au

Hi Daz,

Georgia Gordon called me this week as Australian Emergency Services Magazine trying to say that we spoke in January and she was offering a discount to a magazine I had reportedly signed up for. I'm reporting her to the police and to the ACCC.

Had a phone call from Georgia from Australian Emergency Services Magazine saying that I had been granted a credit for magazine publishing because of the delay caused by Covid-19. She asked to send an email. She obviously had pulled my information from a charity I had donated to earlier in the year which sends out publication and tried to trick me into purchasing their magazines. I will be reporting them to ACCC for dishonest dealings.

Hi, they must have had a marketing session as I have also started being harrassed by Boothbook Media and they have just threatened me with the Debt Collectors. I have sent them an email stating that I am going to complain to Consumer Affairs but now after finding this I am happy to join any action to be taken. They are very clever they make you doubt yourself. I have just closed my business and I knew that I had made no commitment to them as I had no business to advertise! Then suddenly I have a contract.

Hi Susanne,
I'm in a similar boat to what you were in, do you think you could share with me the dispute email and the large email you sent them?
If you could that would be brilliant so can make this all go away. my email is notfete @ gmail.com

Cheers,
Tom

Hello, I am also been harrassed by booth book media for an ad which they called me about. They solicited me, I did not call then, they also claimed that I would not have to pay for the Ad until July. They called me first week of March. The ad they sent me is not something I would approve as it needs to have specific information in it relating to my business industry. I receive several calls a day from them, texts and emails. I have not seen anything published by them. I ignore their calls, however, I did answer their call recently and the woman on the other end was rude, I didn't know who they were, asked for clarification on who they were, she said it will all be explained in an email, which is the same emails, I receive everyday. The interesting thing is that the person who initially called me and got me to sign the agreement does not have a details such as phone number, has an email address ending in proposify.com????? I did pay some of the invoice as I thought I owed it. Have just recently been made aware that they may be scammers. I would be interested in talking with you more about it.

Hi Alex, good move in doing the site. More people have to be made aware of this scam . I have spoken with the Minister for Emergency Services department in QLD and they have no affiliation with this mob . Moreover their logo does not appear on the site address. I have heard from other brokers who have received similiar calls about advertising they had agreed to months earlier , but never had . Time to put a stop to this behaviour

I reported this to the emergency Services minister in QLD and got a call from that department today , saying that this company had no connection with them and was in fact just " pulling photos off site and posting on site they list for Australian Emergency services , however the department advised that their logo is also NOT on that site either so in essence a scam . I have had other brokers have a similiar story of " the donation they signed up for 2 months ago" but this was completely untrue. The advice fro the ministers department was that it is a " fair trading matter " or to the Police .

Have also been scammed by Boothbook.
the ad was terrible and had incorrect pricing. I didn’t authorise it at all and received an invoice to our small business.

Have recently received a sms from debt collectors, Milton Graham, (who if you google, also have a scammer reputation)

I have reported them to scamwatch but i’m not sure how much that will do.
I agree if we all team up and report this that we can make an impact

In exactly the same situation Boothbook media, David Grey. Same demands, same threats. Claiming they have a contract and quoting "eSignature Legality Summary
Under Australian law, a written signature is not necessarily required for a valid contract - contracts are generally valid if legally competent parties reach an agreement, whether they agree verbally, electronically or in a physical paper document. The Electronic Transactions Acts in the Commonwealth, States and Territories of Australia specifically confirm that provided certain requirements are met, and a relevant exception does not apply, contracts cannot be denied enforceability merely because they are concluded electronically. Leading digital transaction management solutions can provide electronic records that are admissible in evidence under Australian laws to support the existence, authenticity and valid acceptance of a contract. "

Yet they haven't produced the so called contract. I've reported it to ACCC. What else can we do?

Hi Daz, I'm looking into this issue for a client (I'm a solicitor). She's also had unpleasant dealings. I'd be interested in talking to you. Can you let me know if you'd be open to a chat (phone or email or whatever platform you'd prefer).

Hi Troga. I'm helping a friend with a similar problem. Can you tell me what ended up happening with the QCAT proceedings? Did they go ahead? Did you settle?
