If you ring the number back, you do get a very polite message, advising it is a Life Saving organisation. Charities are actually exempt for the Do Not Call Register and it is OK for them to be calling homes within certain times eg 9am to 8.30pm business days. 9am to 5pm weekends. As there are so many charities and needy organisations you have to understand it is challenging for them to raise funds. So households just need to be patient and polite and understanding. You don't have to give them any money but it does not cost you to be polite back to them. (By the way I have no connection whatsoever with Surf Life Saving or any other charities).

They do not have to take notice of the 'Do not call register' as it doesn't apply to Australian chatities, only to those over seas. They do not leave messages as they dont have incoming call lines so there is no point in leaving a message if you can't call them back. No need to be such rude, nasty and down right disrespectful.. they are REAL people trying to pay the bills in a town without many job opportunities. It isn't a scam either, annoying yes, but alot cheaper for charities to phone than to stand on a street being ignored.

I have asked thenm to remove my number from their database multiple times but they keep calling how do you get this stopped..

It is unprofessional and dam right unethical to make unsolicated calls to someone who has not warranted it.

Received a call from this number who didn't identify themselves but simply said, "Just checking the bank on your phone" and then hung up.

These cockroaches have been making silent phone calls for years.They ,like all of their type dont see it as harassment or intimidation but as a means of lining their own pockets whilst giving some charity a pittance to avoid being prosecuted.John Haynes thinks we should ask not to have our privacy invaded.I suggest that since we know who & where these vermin are that direct action is a better solution .Im sure the royal lifesaving association wouldnt publicly condone the behavior of those who use their name

been getting this for a week or so now on out homes landline, yesterday evening they left us a message ".....Hello?.....Hellooooooo?" like come on, you just heard a voicemail message, not us answering.... i havent bothered to answer since the first 2

Why on earth would they hang up when someone answers the call (not voice mail) I don't get it
