optus Caller said they were from NTC and were associated with Optus. Asked me if I was happy with my Optus service, then told me that NBN was available in my area. Asked me how much I was paying and then hung up when I refused to give any personal information. Caller had an Asian accent. Number now blocked. NTC Voice Solutions. Contracted by optus to make their marketing and Spam Calls. They never stop so fight fire with fire. Fill up their voicemail \ answering machine with abuse on 1800 283 174. They also really hate when you waste their time by constantly PM and type messages via their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/NTCVoiceSolutions/ short ring then hang up if you answer. typical scammers or cold calling trick to get phone traffic to their number. daily rang 3 days straight just a pain in the backside Called me fro few weeks already. Same story. answered today and the guy tried to sell me the story of NTC associated with Optus, asked me for my year of birth.
I said that if Optus needed something they could call me and finished the phone call.
sigh....also getting daily calls from them - obviously telemarketing so will block too... It's a phishing scam.. ntc optus trying to sell internet packages... they ring to get u to answer using ur name... so they have it and can confirm their data..
They tried to sell me internet packages but when I wouldn't hand over details they said that's fine we have them here.. I still wasn't sure if they were legit so I went with it. They even sent me an Optus link that the internet packages.
Calling me back weeks later to confirm if I was still interested they wanted my year of birth (they had date and month) and my email address...
At this stage I became irrate with them as if Optus hasn't details and they are who they say.. then why don't they know my details..
I've also been receiving calls from unrelated mobile numbers asking me why I hadn't put money in my online account and would I like to do it with my credit card..
But this is all around the same timeline.. & ive been 10 years with no telemarketing issues.
I just called Optus and reported it. They looked up the number and it is home number in Perth who happens have an account with Optus as a customer. Optus are alarmed and they have assured me they will escalate this issue to try and shut the scam down. This is NOT OPTUS! This seems to be a phishing and identity theft scam. DO NOT GIVE AWAY DETAILS! persistent short ring hang up calls to encourage call back. Probable sacm They keep ringing me but I've picked up and it was silent. Soon after they hung up. I get these calls regularly at least 2 a day they call and after around 8 or 9 seconds they hang us ntc sales with optus .... ring optus to get your number taken off their list ... another con .... sales bull ...... always trying . They attempted to call me a few times and they hang up soon as I answer,just now they called and said they were from Optus and wanted to know if happy with there service they asked for confirmation of DOB I immediately got suspicious and hung up I googled the number and found this forum! Getting this one at least twice a week. Optus i think. Have rung me twice... first time a month ago. They knew my name.. tried to register me with some sort of Internet Optus provider thing. Sent me a link that came from an Optus site. Deal seemed legit so I went with it. They said I had a ten day cooling off period to cancel. I hadn't offered personal details but I said to them that given I'm an Optus customer for them to just use the ones on file...
I became suspicious when I didn't receive any confirmation of the product via email or in the post. The ten day cooling off period came and went and I had not received anyone booking in the internet service.
I rang Optus, they knew nothing about it. The reference number I was given on the phone call meant nothing to them..... This is 3 weeks ago now..
Last week I received a phone call from some strange unrelatednumber saying I had not put funds in my online account and asking if I would like to. I hung up instantly and blocked the number...
Yesterday I received a phone call from this Perth NTC/Optus number again, this time saying they were ready to install my internet... they tried several times to confirm my name and DOB, not having my year of birth (something I only do if I'm suspicious and filling something online) after giving them a very direct mouthful of how they would need to verify their whereabouts and company they offered me the chance to speak to their manager.. I bluntly told them that clarifies nothing for me and if they wanted me to have anything at all to do with this product they would need to email me a reference number and phone number to call to confirm this...
they then said certainly what is your email address and I said well this is ridiculous as if you are in fact from Optus and who u say you are you would have all of this information already. Or at least have access to my email address on file with Optus.
I think they are scammers physhing for information... name, address, DOB & credit card in the wrong hands can create problems for good people.
I hope they get their karma soon & I hope it's served good and solid.
