Caller: Some mob about CTP

Suggestion: if you want to stop these people calling you and you are good at spinning a story then take the call but just play along. When they ask for personal details of any kind just divert to another question about the process or something. The most valuable thing to these people is time - if you make them waste time you will have the maximum negative impact upon them. It may waste 15 minutes of your time also but it's sweet when they get frustrated with you. Give it a go with any of them. With any luck you will get onto thewir "do-not-call" list. Cheers

Caller: Jack & Ashely

These two claim they are from a company called CTP ( Compulsory Third Party ), saying that you can get compensation up to 50K from injuries suffered from a vehicle accident.

Sad part is that somehow they know all accident details and your address.
Jack is the main guy that starts off then Ashely is the so called Legal team you deal with.
I have blocked the number and I am ignoring them and also reporting them to the appropriate authorities.

Scammer, apparently I was in a car accident within the last 12 months and apparently it wasn’t my fault. There is between 20 and 50 thousand dollars put aside for my injuries. I hung up knowing it’s all bullsh*t. Am thinking of ringing back and playing along for a bit just to waste there time. It’s sad to think that these a**holes actually do scam honest Australians out of there hard earns money especially older Australians. More people need to play along with these a**holes just to waste there time

I called this number back after having a missed call and he said his name is jack (has an accent) and he stated he was from CTP, when I told him I was reporting this number due to receiving numerous calls a day he got very defensive and hung up. When I called back he told me not to call to start an argument and my number would be removed from their system.

If you have time, make up some details of a fake minor car accident & see if you can get more details out of these scum. The scam is they ring asking if you’ve had a car accident in the past 12 months, if you say yes they say you’re entitled to a small sum of money for any minor injuries (like whiplash). If you play along, they put you through to the “supervisor”. Try asking for an email address, website or supervisor phone number to call them back & report them to https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/report-a-scam
Avoid ever giving your own name & saying “yes” in any of these calls though, because some scammers are using them to create a voiceprint they can use to authorise transactions. Apparently they commonly say “can you hear me?” Just say ok or absolutely or mmhmm or whatever. https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.kaspersky.com/blog/synthetic-voice-phone-fraud/18034/amp/

Received yet another call, the third his week from a bloke calling himself Jack. I asked where he was calling from and he seemed reluctant to tell me. Eventually he said he was calling from Queensland, yet the call was from a Perth number. When I asked why he was calling from a Perth number he said it was how their dialing system worked. Yea, right!! I was so fed up receiving calls from these people I rather lost it and told him he was a crook phishing for information. Then I hung up while he was still talking. How can these crooks be fond and stopped?

I had the same experience as other posters above. The fact that they said they were from CTP Insurance alerted me because this is not a company, it is just a type of insurance that Insurance companies provide. They had my name, date of the accident and name of insurer. When I asked them how they got my details they said it was from my insurer. HOWEVER, I called their bluff on this because the number they phoned me on was a new work number that my insurer does not have. The only people I have given this work number to and who also know the details of the accident are one of the smash repairers that I got a quote from. I contacted the smash repairers and they insisted they don't share client data but that is the only possible source of the information.

My experience is similar to Anonymous dated 21/12/18.

The caller claimed he is from the CTP ( Compulsory Third Party ), saying that I can get compensation from injuries suffered from a vehicle accident.

The caller had specific information about an accident I had recently had, including my insurer. The caller also claimed that the accident information was provided by my insurer. I contacted my insurer and they had categorically denied providing this information.

I have blocked the number and I am ignoring them
