Mine was mike. When I told him I was with the Australian Federal Police he escalated it to his supervisor immediately. Obviously, the scammers don't know how to react when they are on to an authority figure. The time before I told them I was with Microsoft Support and can I have their credit card details before we proceed. Funny how he hung up.

Scammer phone call to fix Microsoft Problems.
I hung up and did a search on the internet and found the following from Microsoft:

This number is now coming as a pop-up on my computer - telling me they have frozen my system to protect me from a virus. All I need is protection from them!

Seriously so sick of these damn calls from these scammers. Mine was called Susy, and what was embarassing was this time she couldn't even pronounce the name of the problem and she hung up right after. Pathetic. Last time, the girl insisted I had a virus and I said that I don't even own a computer just to test her and she said ' you're a liar! don't lie to me'. Really ticked me off, don't hassle me and then accuse me. I hope someone can get these numbers blocked soon.

We are also getting these calls very frequently. We screen them so we don't answer them but we really need to be able to report these and get them blocked at some central exchange (if this exists anymore?) to protect those that don't know about the scam. Glad I came across this site though - it's very helpful and the telephone companies should publicize this site to customers.

And anther recipient here. I was going to lead them on with the 5 computers, multiple versions of Windows, mutliple modems, some Macs, but I lost the will to live long before 'Nicole Anderson' did. I did try telling one bloke it was a scam but he assured me they were not the scammers, that it was another company & the police had dealt with them. It is just easier to hang up on them.

They have been so persistant and have been ringing for several months, am now at the point where ive had enough, they don't get the message to bugger off. I have posted the number on FB so hopefully it will stop more people being conned by these scammers.

Recieved several calls from this number regarding virus in my computer. Told them that I am a computer expert and hung up. The intention of this scammers is to get you to log in to the computer and convince you to give them the control of your computer so that they could remove the virus. They will then install software to take control of your computer for their own purposes and/or record data (such as your internet banking password etc). Do not fall for this. A virus in your computer is nobody's business but your own.

Just had a call from this number. Told them I didn't have a computer - really started a dialogue there. They wanted to know why I didn't have one, didn't I have a job that worked with one, did I want them to sell me one.

Yep scammers. I like to keep them on the line as long as possible so they cannot scam someone else. That's my community service. Personal best 38 minutes.

Last time I saw the number coming up I answered it as "Australian Federal Police, Cyber Crimes Division". I got a short sharp expletive and the phone went dead. :-)
