I also had a call saying from this number. It was an Indian lady. Her name was Lisa but I don't think it was her real name. She told me that my computer had a malicious virus. She said that she would help to remove it remotely. I was getting suspicious and asked her questions. Then, she got reckless and started to have a upset tone. I believe these things are scams. Always ask questions...

The caller had a pronounced indian accent. Initially a male explained they'd received error messages from my PC which suggests my computer has been hacked. When I agreed to go onto my computer to check out the corrupt files I was transferred to "techincal support" (also indian, claimed her name's Susie) where I was asked to allow them remote access to my computer. She gave me a sales pitch for a security package....pay $195 for 2yrs or $279 for 4yrs. When I started asking questions she became 'excitable' (impatient & defensive) - seemed disgusted I asked for her precise company name. She even asked if I was writing the name down. When I said "yes" she told me to stop & "just remember it in your memory". I made it clear I wouldn't be giving them any money. Suddenly all my files saved on Desktop started deleting!!! I quickly turned the PC off. I called them back on the ph no they gave me. Another guy answered with the co. name (Window's Upgrading Systems). I asked to speak with "Marilyn" (made up a name on the spot). He explained she was on another call & practically demanded I discuss my issue with HIM. I politely declined, insisting it would be much easier to 'continue discussing my case' with 'Marilyn'. He insisted on knowing my name so I chose 'Karen'. I asked for the ph no for head office/a manager he got angry & said he will go find it so he'll have to "put me on hold for HALF AN HOUR" (I'm guessing that was intended as a deterrent - being an interstate call). I waited a few mins then he hung up. I rang the number again. This time a man answered - not a business greeting, just 'hello'. I asked if it was a business no. He said no. GET THIS: this guy with a broad indian accent TRIED TO SUPPRESS HIS ACCENT. Ridiculous! I calmly explained that I know it's a scam and that if he doesn't explain himself to me my next call would be to the police. He started raving as if he was being harrassed "why do you keep calling me?! Stop it!!". So I told him I'm referring it to the police. To which he replied(!!!!) "do you want me to transfer you to the police?!!". Arrggghhh. Annoying idiots. I spent the next few hours with my internet provider's tech guy get it checked over, cleaned and upgraded!!!

They rang saying I had a problem with my computer, said they were from Windows and would help me fix the problem. It all sounded very dodgy, the caller had an Indian accent and there was a lot of background chatter suggesting a call centre. When I rang back to confirm his identity he pretended not to be able to hear me

Tech support scam. They pick up when you call back until they realise you know they are liars, then they hang up on you.
