Someone called "Phonas" ? rang my elderly parents and provided this phone number as a contact to "prove" that they were legitimate. My parents were worried sick that something was wrong with their computer, but at least they had the common sense to ask me what I thought first before allowing these people to access their computer. As in the other comments, they spoke with very strong Indian accents, which my parents found very hard to understand, and were very pushy to the point of being verbally aggressive. Will report to www.scamwatch.gov.au as well - not sure why the authorities have done nothing to close down this operation which has been clearly going on for over a year going by the date of these comments!!!!

Had a popup that took up my whole screen after my daughter got onto a webpage on my computer. Message said viruses had effected my computer, my financial and personal information was at risk and to ring the number at Microsoft. Wouldn't clear from the screen. I shut down and opened in safe mode and ran my Norton check and it came up with three tracking cookies. I rang the number to see what would happen and got a recording so didn't leave a message. They rang me back and woman with Indian accent wanted to access my computer to fix the problem. Very full on. I asked to speak to supervisor and she asked why. Then put on another Indian guy o was meant to be supervisor. Very pushy and said it wasn't a virus my Norton would pick up and was a "backend" access blah blah. Glad to see others have been contacted by this number and had similar experiences

Received a call today and was told to ring this number back to check security of the supervisor Kevin. They told me to check my CLSD number, which according to another site is not a unique number and the same for every computer. Google led me to this page when wanted to check the number. Not someone who has english as first language.

(08) 7200 0370 and (08) 7200 1192 Both of these numbers are associated with the same scamming 'gang'? Male and female Indian/Asian accent. Claiming they are with: PC SUPPORT & SERVICES - ADELAIDE BASED. They tell a similar story how someone's hacking into your computer and downloading all of your data and also damaging your computer with viruses whilst doing so. They say they want to help restore your computer and check your security etc, but really want your computer 'security' number so they can get in and 'do it all themselves' by the sounds of it. Be safe and screen your calls, have these numbers written by your phone and simply do not answer their calls. (You can also go into your phone software and 'block' these numbers) take note of the time as well, this info may help police if required to investigate.

Yes, I had the same phone call today. An Indian women ringing from this number (at PC Support Inservices) suggested my computer required anti-virus protection as her company had noted numerous error reports and warnings regarding my supposedly infected computer

Got a call in Sydney today from these people, "Tech applet" of Adelaide. Details the same as others have posted here. Looking at this thread, they've been using this number for nearly a year. Couldn't see any reference to it on scamwatch. The tragedy is they must be catching people and making money.

Had a call last night from this number with the Indian woman telling me she was from Windows & wanted to 'save my computer from viruses'...I asked for her company name & she quoted 'VA?ESAHURE'....I asked what system i was using & she couldn't tell me...I had only read an article a few days ago about an Indian/Sth.Aust. number luckily....I asked her if she wanted remote access to my computer to which she replied 'No'...Finally she called me 'dumb' & said my computer would crash in the next few days...I hung up the phone...

Stuart called from Adelaide to say I have a virus on my computer. When I asked the name and type of virus, he changed his mind and said it was a "hacking file" in the back end of my Windows Operating System that has advised him automatically. He quoted my CLSID (some random numbers I don't care about) and said a "legitimate" Windows technician will need to access my computer to remove the "hacking files". I asked him the information he has and the "legitimate" Windows company has my initial, surname and address. Pity my Windows is not registered in that name. Loved it when Stuart stumbles on his answers to my questions.

Got a call from these guys. Scare tactics about someone hacking my computer and having to upgrade my licence key, else Microsoft would discontinue my licence and things would stop working. Alarms bells went off when they wanted me to download something called showmypc which effectively gives them control. I refused, was given this call back number and was asked to speak to Steve Bosgon employee id 8014. He'll be waiting forever.

I was told it was courtesy call and they were receiving a lot of error reports and to get on my computer now. I thought it was a scam and asked for a name and number. The Indian man I spoke to said he was calling from Adelaide and after further prompting said he was from Tech Applet (08) 7200 0370. It sounded like a call centre and he was very difficult to understand.

I did exactly the same thing. Was quoted my computer number and told just to let the tech have access to fix my computer. I asked for the call back number and said can I put you on hold for a minute while I googled the number. Led me to this page.
