Caller: Pop up ad Interesting that Microsoft support found viruses and trojan horses on my computer "stealing" credit card and other personal info, when my computer is running an obscure Linux distro.
Oh and yes, this is 100% a scam number, avoid at all costs!

I had a voice on my computer after a boot up following my modem being accidentally disconnected saying basically the same as the text above. It stated that my passwords etc were being copied and to contact the number above . It was purportedly coming Microsoft but I noticed that the web address was omnibus or something like that. I have run anti virus, spyware and malware scans and they reveal no problems.

Purported to be Apple Support claiming that the computer was been hacked by outside hackers. Wanted $2600 to install Protection software. Gained details of the targets Credit Card and convinced her they were genuine with Asian American accents. Logged on to her computer and spent approx 2hrs on line with he showing her articles relating to various scams to prove their bona fides. Very sophisticated scam. Be afraid, be very afraid!

Re (08) 7150 1727 This number appeared as a call back No. in a popup for MS support on a (supposedly) MS web page informing of a Trojan infection that was stealing personal info. MS DO NOT ENGAGE IN THESE ACTIVITIES. THIS IS AN ATTEMPT TO INFECT PC's ETC. Be wary!!!
