They called me today. The company is called Smegoweb (dot com). Their website informations shows that they are based in India. I have done much research on this business and they are not registered in Australia and they are listed on the ACCC's Scam Watch website.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. Giving them the information above made them quite nervous.

Called to tell me my website was missing a lot of Google traffic. Waffled on for ages with a load of crap, so I just left the phone with him still blabbing while I went into IGA. He'd stopped (and hung up) by the time I got back to the car

Said he was calling on behalf of google and has a report on our website. Said I wasn't interested figuring it was seo. Said we already have someone doing seo. kept going saying he wasn't selling anything and there was problems with a couple of my webpages and to open my site. Figured I would see where he was going with this.. When I said what pages have problems he said I don't want to waste any more of my time and was putting me through to his manager.. I hung up, they rang back immediately. just didn't answer.

Bloody Smegoweb, non stop spamming telling you they're going to google you to the top, except they don't know who you are what your biz does. They've even resorted to calling from private numbers! Slugs!

Same scammers same MO, called me from (03) 8400 4834. Dispatched after listening to the dribble for 11 minutes. What they were claiming was only checked and confirmed OK yesterday by myself using google's Webmaster tools. Stay away from these people is all I can suggest.

Block their phone number!

Almost got talked into this scam. Sounded so legit but luckily before I paid the $750 had a quick Google and saw all this SCAM comments. I see they are active now almost 1 year and still targeting the honest small Australian business. Better go find locally the expert you can trust.

they just called and never said anything until we hung up.

I got a call today trying saying that my website is not google compliant, so I asked them to email details and they would not said there were too many errors and that I have to go over them on the phone. I said my IT dept can deal with this and they said they will not know how to fix this. I put the phone down. Total scam.

Missed call. Lucy I didn't answer as I was in a bad mood when they called. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Received a cold call from this number regarding search engine optimisation. The woman was next to impossible to understand because of her extremely strong indian accent. I am not convinced that she knew much about what she was trying to sell and on that basis would recommend that you stay well clear of this business!

Smegoweb. Asking to speak with the someone about our website. My standard Step one answer is..

"I'm sooo sorry, but our IT department works offsite". Usually they say "ok" and hang up.

They ask for the details to contact out IT department.

Step two: " again I'm so sorry, but due to the excessive amount of time wasted via telemarketers, I have been asked not to pass on any details".

I have found it to be the best way to stop IT cold callers.

After 3 months my website is further back than when they started.
Have no idea what they are doing.
just get feed more bs every time you call.

Just had a call from this number...I told them my business is no longer operating......

And yes yet another call saying our website is not google compliant!
She says there are google problems with our site.
If google is not happy with our website, they can contact us direct.

I have had three calls from this number today.
Two in the last five minutes.
Whilst he was trying to sell me a back page for my website I was typing in the phone number here.
I said that I do not deal or work with scammers and hung up whilst he was still talking

dodgy. they try to get access to your computer by making you join an "meeting" but this would give them access to use your computer from their screen and they could do just about anything. so many give away signs that they were dodgy. When they asked me to access my computer i said hang on im not home but ill use someone elses computer. they immediately said theyd call back when im at home. i said nah we can do it now no problem. so then they try to get me to connect a sort of conference thingy. but what it really is, is what they use to have control over the mouse cursor. i know, it happened to a friend of mine so i knew where he was going with it. no way,.

do not answer the call. scammer. they tell you there is an issue with your website that is stopping it from ranking well on google and might make google remove your website completely (would not happen lol) also that they have a special report on it. pppfft

Trying to sell websites people already have. Reported them to SCAM WATCH.

3 days in a row I've had calls from them despite telling them every time to remove my number. Have blocked this number on my mobile phone - will see if that works.
