Caller: People claiming to be from telstra This is absolutely NOT telstra calling you. I had cancelled this order, so when they called me I was already suspicious. Then when they asked for my date of birth, really began to see red flags. I told them I'd call Telstra instead. I called Telstra and they said this call was NOT from them. They also said my order had been cancelled. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFORMATION. Definitely dirty scammers.

Caller: George? followup to an extended NBN "supposed selling" call from "Nadia", who repeatedly in our conversation, left the phone on hold for 1/2 hour(to consult other staff) at a time before returning and reiterating the same few facts she had about my contact with Telstra. She caught me in an anxious moment and it was only when she followed up the following day that my brain switched on and recognised a classic scam approach: gather snippets of info, slowly by accretion....and finally ask for Pension card no. for example as a test and then banking details. I shouldnt have let the call continue belyond the 1st few minutes. Telstra Do NOT PHONE their users. Mea Culpa. Damn the eyes(ayes), missing No's(yes, yes, yes) and blather of these miscreants and soon.

I have just signed up for a new service with Telstra, based on other comments it looks like somebody inside Telstra is on forwarding new account details to a scammer.

Caller: The operator said he was with Telstra, but later admitted they work on behalf of Telstra. He said from the Phillipines but he had an Australian accent and the number appears to be from WA (08) This number just called me again: a couple of rings and disconnected by them. Unfortunately on a previous occasion I did speak with a male on this number who had certain personal details I had given Telstra to connect NBN. The problem,m here is that while the public are forever being advised not to give out details to unknown callers, it is part of the business model of certain businesses including a banking subsidiary of a major bank (that uses a Philippines call centre) to call demanding personal information to 'confirm your ID' while of course they do not feel obliged to do the same. In the case of the banking subsidiary, the calls were often because the bank's own mirror site (I assume it was a mirror site) was a day or few behind the transactions.
Now, what to do where one has confirmed some personal details with an operator on (08) 6228 4108?

Did not answer the call. As it turns out though, I set up a contract with Aussie Broadband NBN yesterday afternoon (currently have Telstra ADSL) and just after, called Telstra re. moving my father's phone from a landline to NBN. Given all the posts here, interesting coincidences! These scammers are obviously getting information about people who have recently ordered the NBN.

I ordered a mobile plan from Telstra earlier in the week. This number called me today and said she was from Telstra and it had now been decided that they needed a payment 3 months in advance to process the payment ($150). I told her there was no mention of this at the time of my order and she said it had been since decided... told her to cancel my order as it sounded scammy and she had no hesitation and hung up pretty quickly. Will check in with Telstra to see if this was legit.

Caller: A scam group based in Australia Very discerning. Started with “hi Im from a company, with Telstra.” Very confident. Then tried to say my internet would be cut off in 90 days. New nbn is here. But I knew from my own information that it would take about a good year or so for my internet to become a problem. So why call me amd say “90days and you’ll have no internet”. THEY WERE trying to make me think I would be without internet, in the coming days, if I didn’t sign up there and then. But I knew Telstra wouldn’t do that to me. BUT WHEN THEY EVEN ASKED MY DAte if birth to confirm, then EVEN MY DETAILS. I KNEW they were scamming. I even said “Telstra would never give my information out to a company, or ask me for my details.” “I received a letter saying we had a year for internet change. THEN he got rude. He was a western Australian I think due to the way he started to talk. The slang and dialect. He was definitely an Aussie. And he got aggressive. Started threatening me that I’d have no internet and to pay him right away. That being was from Telstra and trying to get me good internet. That’s when I hung up. I’ve also alerted everyone I know, put it to Telstra and SCAM WATCH, Scam alert too online. Just to let them know, Facebook post to your friends and family and for them to share. and block their numbers. Now variations of their number can come though so becareful. With a different end digit. And they can be confident. So hang up whenever you’re not sure or feel it’s weird. If you’re worried about your internet..YOU Can ring your provider YOURSELF personally, TO CHECK. Don’t trust anyone CALLING you!

Caller: TSA Keep calling my 94 year old mother and asking for me, I note they also have called my mobile 4 times today and called my home phone 3 times yesterday. When I called them back claimed they are trying to process a Telstra order. Advised them I don't have one and told them not to call me again. They no longer call my landline but continue to call my mobile and my elderly mothers landline. They also asked for her pension number, I have advised her not to give out any information to anyone by telephone and I will report this lot to the Telecommunications Ombudsman

Caller: TSA staff They are TSA company, work on behalf of Telstra. TSA is outsourcing company based on Philippine, even tough their number is 08 (Perth, WA). Last week I ordered Home bundle ADSL2 from Telstra. So far they only asked order reference number, name & DOB to verify my call back in order to check my order with Telstra. That is the only info I know about this number.

One day after contacting Telstra about NBN male caller rang asking for credit card details as trying to convince us there is a cash back when purchasing through Telstra. Was quite rude and very pushy when of course we declined and said "Just go get your card!!!" "How am I to put money into your account!!!" Promptly terminated call. Call originated from Perth WA.

1 minute after doing a Foxtel by Telstra exit survey -- and very specifically asking NOT to be contacted -- this number called. The survey company promised not to pass on my details (I opted "no" when asked) ... liars. Outrageous.

They said T&T on behalf of Telstra. I find this a bit weird as I ordered NBN through Telstra and they said it was about my order, and asked for my DOB. A bit suss.
