I regularly receive calls from this number, both n my land line and on my mobile. It is basically a call centre for telemarketing. Unfortunately they are part of a new breed who have aces to software that allows them to make multiple calls at the same time. They then talk to the one that answers first and simply ignore the remainder who have answered, regardless of how many that may be. Today they rang my landline and my mobile simultaneously. My wife answered the landline call and spoke to a woman who wanted to talk to her about investment opportunities. I answered the mobile at the same time and after about 5 seconds the caller disconnected. This approach is totally unethical and I would not deal with them on principle. This whole technique is designed to maximize the number of victims that they can speak to in a given time. It deliberately and totally ignores the amount of time wasted by all of the other people who answer the phone only to find that the caller does not respond. I have sent a letter of complaint to the Minister for Communications outlining the technique and demanding that it be made illegal. I have provided him with a list of the phone numbers that I have collected that are using this technique. Join the protest.

They've been calling constantly for about a week. I dont like answering numbers I don't know. But they hadn't left a message. Today, I was notified of a voicemail message, however, when I retrieved it, it was just about 45seconds of silence. Very Annoying!!!

My caller id tells me if these are overseas this one isn't but when it says overseas I hand the phone to my daughter I am blocking all numbers that constantly call it's the only way to do it. (02) 8036 2171 is another number I am blocking I hear talking then they hang up, block them on house and mobile phones (if your phone allows you) save you a lot of grief.

as mentioned by TC above, they say that your computer is corrupted, calling themselves Quantum PC Support. hang up! They got $50 out of my husband but wanted more. He cancelled his card, though the transaction was going to an account in Houston Texas. They are unethical, and need to be stopped. They are a global nuisance

I've been getting lots of calls from this number over the last 2 weeks or so. I just answer and say nothing - after about 5 seconds, they hang up.
I also treat "PRIVATE" numbers the same and if it's a friend on a private number, they usually say "Hello xx - are you there?" Then I answer, otherwise - NOTHING !!

Received two calls from this number on 10th Sept - obviously their time is more important than ours.

5-7 calls a day from this number. I need my phone on for important work calls and these sales companies are timewasting. They distract workers, eat into productivity and wriggle into our downtime too. Greasy timewasting little crooks. It seems an abuse of our hard-fought for telecommunications network. It really should not be allowed to continue.

I am getting the same call as the original post, sometimes 7-8 times a day during my working hours which is really disruptive. Just the whole situation with the telemarketers new software (see the 'shotgun' approach in original post) is outright disrespectful harassment and should be illegal.
I am in Melbourne, and I believe that they have got my number from a previous service I had with Telstra pre-paid mobile... Obviously I hadn't read the fine print because after switching providers away from Telstra and transferring my phone number with me, Telstra must have then 'sold' my name, phone number and address on the internet, as it pops up with a simple google search. VERY SCARY!
Now that I'm on post-paid I can't do much until my contract expires, but I will be getting a new number for sure.
LET THIS BE A LESSON!! DON'T TAKE YOUR NUMBER WITH YOU IF YOU LEAVE A TELSTRA MOBILE SERVICE!!
