Justin Sterling, Hacker Warning, Next Gen Careers and training Southport
Posted on August 21, 2016Caller type: Unknown

I have recently been informed about a work colleague ( Justin Sterling ) who was sacked from a car dealership we both worked at. He was sacked after he was discovered by the managers to be downloading the company data onto personal hard drives, he had created remote access tools to enable him tunnel into the main offices. The concern was that he was collecting information about our customers and clients. The day he was sacked the company websites went down for two days, obviously this was/is his insurance policy. I'd be worried about his intentions at Next Gen Careers and training, not trustworthy shady character.

Yeah this is NextGen Careers & Training. I had a quick call from them a few days ago checking I was still looking for work, and the next day they phoned again for a very long conversation on trying to get me to sign up for an irrelevant course. They asked a number of job related questions but I don't think they actually cared about the answers. They never said anything about how they got my contact details but I think it was through a recruiting agency I applied to a month ago, (I won’t apply to recruiting agencies again).
I spoke to Ronan and then Sam, who asked some questions about what type of work I was looking to get into, but then Ronan convincingly transitioned this into getting me to sign up, while on the phone, for a completely irrelevant $14,800 online Diploma of Management which would take 8-24 months and 'wouldn't cost me anything' because of vet-fee help. They sent a digital brochure which also mentioned that a ‘Diploma of Business’ was $14,800 and a ‘Duel Diploma of Leadership & Management + Business’ was $18,800. They said that for the next stage in this process I’d need to find my tax file number.
Those around me who’ve been all the way through this scam have realised that the ‘careers consultant’ hopes you won’t bother with the course, as they only care about getting their commission and conning you into an overpriced course which won’t help with your job searches. If you believe a diploma of management or business would help you, I’d recommend an actual institution like a university or tafe etc, especially as the course prices can be much the same.
It's a scam to get a commission and heaps of your personal details (ID, resume, personal details needed to sign up etc). They lure people in with the ‘pay later’ approach of the vet-fee help scheme, which overshadows the ridiculous cost of the course (and if you’re looking for a job the last thing you need is an overpriced and useless diploma). You sign up for the 'free' course, and while taxpayers and the government are burdened with everyone’s fees, the 'career consultant' gets a commission.

Have already informed these guys that I'm not interested in their earn and learn programs and they continue to call me at least twice a week - not sure how to stop these calls from coming through! Looks like I applied for a job through Seek and the applications get diverted to this company.

So guys, I've just missed a call from this number so I thought I'd search it up on this website. So I done my research and saw that it was not a friendly company. Bitches right. So, I rang them back with the knowledge that these comments have left for me and was asked the basics; am I looking for work, what kind of work and where, personal details, etc. He (Nathan) asked if I was a Australian citizen, I said no, so he proceeded to ask if I was a permanent resident, I said yes. Just thought I'd throw a little lie in there and say I wasn't Australian and see what happens. He then proceeds to tell me that Next Gen can only help Australian citizens, and then said bye and hung up. So folks, if you want them to stop harassing you, answer it and just tell them you aren't a citizen :) :) keep safe from spam!

Next Gen recruitment. I asked how they got my number, she gave a vague explanation that they work with recruitment agencies and job sites like Seek/Indeed etc. She was very pushy, tried to sign me up to an expensive training course that I had no interest in. When I said no, she became very rude and condescending then hung up. Don't bother with these telemarketers.

They pulled my number from a job seeker website and have been calling intermittently for two months. I've explained I'm not interested, I'm already studying, but they're persistent!

Telemarketer or scam - You decide?

Was cold called by this number apparently Next Gen Careers and Training. I don't give my phone number out and the call sounded suspicious. When I enquired about how they came about my number they could not not provide me any details.
If you receive an unsolicited call from this company hang up and do not provide them with any personal details.

Got scammed into signing up to a dual diploma with these guys last year! Had no idea that they actually weren't interested in helping me find a job and so I stupidly passed the census date for the first fee period before realising as they stopped keeping in touch with me and now I am not sure if I'll be able to get the money taken off my name from the taxation department. Wish I'd known then what I know now! They really pressured me into signing up, even though I was already studying a diploma (and still am) at the time!

Hi Nabz,
I used to work for NSW State Training Services, under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) you have a cooling off period where you can withdraw from the course. call 13 28 11 for your nearest office and they will give you the full rundown of your obligations. Unfortunately there are more than 1 organisation like this in Australia.

These morons were calling my mobile, so I blocked it. They then FOUND MY WORK NUMBER, which is NOT listed anywhere on job seeking websites, and started spam calling me. At WORK. The only way they could have done so is to have Googled me. My employers are now suspicious of me looking elsewhere for work, it's making my working life miserable. They even call and ask "has Lee found new employment yet?" If they call you, be worried, they're out to destroy your effing job.

They call you every day if you don't answer. I finally answered to let them know I am not interested. I get calls all the time from these sorts of companies.... They obtain your number from job sites like Career One and Seek..... I always say not interested or studying and they don't call back.... Use Uni or tafe for VET fees....
