took a call from this number today. the guy told me his name and said he was phoning on behalf of the Australian government... said there is a new incentive for home owners to increase their superannuation because the government doesn't want to have to pay pensions but wants people to be self funded retirees.... no doubt a scam.

Said they were from Commonwealth, who I bank with, and same as person previously, said they had over-charges that needed to be refunded into my account. I honestly thought it was my bank to begin with and gave them correct spelling of my name and my DOB, but knew something was wrong when they asked for my card details. How silly do I feel? I was sucked in. Glad I did not give my card details. Watch out people!

I also received 2 phone calls yesterday and today from this number. Yesterday they said that they were calling on behalf of the government and the solar panel rebate scheme. Today I just put them on hold.....sort of....I had a cd going and placed the cordless phone next to the cd player, and left it there for 5 minutes then hung up.

Had a missed call from them today. I did not answer and no message left.

Just missed a call from this number. Glad I checked on here first as the number's prefix of 46583 is actually often associated with country districts such as Winton and Longreach in Queensland's central-west. Winton and Longreach are both small, rural towns which are situated only a few hundred kilometres away from the cattle station where I live, and so this number could have been a legit one for me to have received a call from eg from a neighbouring cattle station or local business in the Longreach or Winton area. Would be interesting to know how spammers, particularly Indian spammers, can be in possession of such a 'localised' or 'specific-to-a-region' number...

I got the same phone call again today (3 days in a row), got sick and tired of the same number ringing me, first leaving no message and then trying to con me out of my details; so I got my partner's whistle (she teaches netball) and blew very loud into it, don't think they'll ring back.

got the same call today but sais they were from NAB ....and NAB dont charge fees !!!!

Called and asked for my husband by name, and said she was from the CBA (my husband's bank) wanting to talk to him re being incorrectly charged fees.
What I picked up on was that she was calling from an 07 number, but said she was from Sydney office. When I questioned that she just said 'no, I'm in Sydney' in her very broken english. As far as I know, CBA is still employing Australian people in their call centres.
I told her that I'd get him to call the CBA back directly.

ahhhh, this is how they knew who I bank with - rang me 3 months ago to find out, I didn't even think back then & just gave the name of the bank!

Phone call received this morning " Christine Wilson" telling me I had been overcharged by the Bendigo Bank (where I do have an account) re Solar Panels and the Aust. Govt were going to reimburse me???!!!!! Don't even own the house.

I just had a phone call from this same number re the bank issue, I ended up hanging up and he rang back and I didn't answer it. It needs to be disconnected not good!

This indian mob saying they're from the government solar joint has phoned me asking for the account holder, which he named correctly. This is now about the 6th time this scamming dog has phoned. They don't seem to bloody learn their lesson even when I abuse the hell out of them or tell them he'll be reported and locked up !! Must be time I got one of those whistles and blew the hell out of his ears drums I'd be thinking ;)

The usual thick accent, the call about Federal Government solar panels. Garbled to say the least. Told "Adam" to go get lost, in less than polite words.

Just received call. Silence on the line and then the now common musical trill indicating that they are using ring ahead software to save them calling numbers that are not answered. Immediately placed number on block call list.

Looks like this lot are back with solar rebate, initially came through as 'private number, very bad line. Indian accent.
