Hey all- figured out where they got my phone number- they ARE really the Cancer Council- it IS legit for as far as I can tell. But it's RIDICULOUS that they call every single day repeatedly and REFUSE to leave voicemails! They don't give us a choice as to whether we WANT to call them back by POINT BLANK REFUSING to identify themselves on our voicemails! (well, that's the case with me anyway) I worked out that I signed a random Change.org petition and just afterwards a pop up window from the cancer council and change.org pops up about a little girl with cancer- Rhiley someone- of course that tugs at your heart strings. As if it wouldn't and u truly DO feel just awful for this little one & her family. BUT the way the cancer council dishonestly gets your details to then continually harass you forever is by saying- "show your support for Rhiley by clicking here and then it just asks for your phone number - this is NOT optional- you HAVE to give your phone number details- and then as soon as you do the window disappears. NOT ONCE DOES IT ASK FOR PERMISSION TO CALL & HARASS YOU!

Cancer Council- I think the work you do is great! My mother died from cancer last year in March and it was the most hideous awful brutal thing to watch! But it is NOT OKAY that you carry on like Indian call centre telemarketers! You seriously tarnish the image of the cancer councils work!

If I did believe me I would but I CERTAINLY would NOT just be handing my credit card details over the phone to some random telemarketer! Get your act together and show some common courtesy- calling families at 7pm onwards EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!

My father donates to numerous charities- and STILL gets pestered DAILY to donate MORE from the same charities he gives to EVERY WEEK! In fact he got a call from the cancer council one morning and had to spend nearly an hour explaining he can't afford ANYNORE per week! Only to be called in the afternoon by one of the cancer councils subsideries to donate to them as well! The poor bloke spends a quarter of his weekly old age pension just on FKING charities!

I didnt do any survey and my mum and dad only knows my number. I am going to Queensland to sue them. Honestly, pretty pathetic to do this to a fifteen year old.

For the calls to stop you need to e-mail callingenquiries @ protophone.com and ask to be removed from the calling register and then I suggest registering your phone number with the Do Not Call Register. If you phone the number back it tells you to e-mail callingenquiries @ protophone.com so if you cannot be bothered to e-mail them then expect calls to keep happening.

I have received 34 phone calls in 4 days and they never leave a message. I phone back the number (07) 3606 0855 and they advise if you would like to be removed from the calling list then e-mail callingenquiries @ protophone.com and guess what I have sent them two e-mails and still they call leaving no Voicemail. I have done research and they are from the Cancer Council wanting donations. I donated $800 in 2014 and $300 in 2015 to the Cancer Council Relay for Life however now I will donate nothing to the Cancer Council and donate to another charity which does not harass people. They really need to get their act together.

Guy says hes from Britain and living in Brisbane. I asked him enough questions, we had probably a ten minute phone call. Claims he's from amnesty international and then hangs up on me once I said that I need verification because otherwise he could be phishing me. He knew a lot about the campaign he was referring to. Either real or a highly advanced phisher. If you want to donate go directly to the website. I called the number back and got a generic charity answer from a girl with an aussie accent and said to email them at protophone.com which is not a real website. Scammer.

This is not the Cancer Council ..it is a scammer pretending to be. Have reported to scamwatch.gov.au

Received a call on my mobile from (07) 3606 0855. I will NOT be handing over any banking details they ask for, EVER!! Cancer Council you need to really get your act together because this is giving you a BAD image. We all know or have lost someone to Cancer but don't try to guilt us into handing over credit card details. I will donate when it suits me to do so. Number is now blocked!!

Constantly (daily) getting messages from this number saying missed call and voicemail. The thing is my phone does not even ring. I am on the Do Not Call Register and never fill in surveys or sign up for freebies. As far as I am concerned this is harassment and stating that you can get away with it because you are a charity is a cop out!!
Many people have complained about this number, surely something can be done about it.
Like everyone else after supporting the Cancer Council for many years, sadly now I will no longer be doing so!!

Sick of the calls.
Called back. Got some bint telling me to write an email..could not understand the address she gave. Have tried all variations. If it is the Cancer Council they will never get a bloody cent from me.
We are on DSP. They are being a nuisance and we are on the 'do not call' registry. It has not helped. We have a silent number. They even got through that. I feel sorry for the workers but this is harassment.

My mum and my dad kniw this number, that is all. I didn't fill out any survey and cancer council doesn't know my number. What the heck? They have called three times. I hung up once and ignored twice. I will threaten to call the cops.

This number keeps calling even though when I filled in the surveys I put NO on everything I still get them calling I just hang up on them or don 't answer they are as annoying as the 'microsoft' calling about my computer

I've got a call from this number @ 19:20, it was the non business hour! I was answered this number and asking them to email me the black n white regarding the donation they promoted but they telling the call were enough prove instead, and they asking my credit card number. I dont believe those no black n white

you may have entered an online competition, eg. win a Bunnings voucher or a holiday somewhere. These comps ask for your details which are then shared with their sponsors. if you look into the fine print of these comps, they do tell you your details will be shared. so always read all the info. usually hidden behind a link. Hope this helps.

Get bombarded with calls for a period of time then none for a while. Have started again.
