Supposedly from the Cth director of prosecutions head officed in qld. Recorded message telling me someone has supposedly filed an affidavit and some other mumbo jumbo and I had better call back because my house is under surveillance - only the lady can't say it properly

Caller left voicemail message stating 'Director of Public Prosecutions representing the Australian Taxation Office making you aware of our concern for an affidavit we have received with the prime suspect filed against your name. Be aware your house in under surveillance so do not disregard this message. Please call back as soon as possible to (07) 3483 0456. So clearly a spam/hoax call which I can only assume will request a sum of money to be paid to clear the issue. A new twist on the previous ATO scam.

All, definitely a scam and has been registered with the ATO Intelligence office (the official one) The number (07) QLD is a redirector that pushes you to some foreign country. Work on the principle that the ATO voice mail wouldn't be in a Canadian/American accent.

I rang the ATO and lodged an official complaint. This is definately a scam!! DO NOT GIVE OUT BANK details or otherwise!!! This number of (07) 3483 0456 is fake. THE ATO DO NOT CALL without issuing written advice. I now have an official ATO case ID to report to their intelligence team

Got a call apparently from the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions representing the Australian Taxation Office. The computer robot voice told me my home was under surveillance and I had better call or face prosecution. Definitely a scam...

Also received the call supposedly from the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions representing the Australian Taxation Office. The female caller advised my home was under surveillance and I had better call or face prosecution. Definite scam, but a new twist I reckon.

Received a phone call from a lady saying that she was from the Department of Public Prosecutions calling on behalf of the ATO and that I was name in an affidavit as a primary suspect in relation to tax matters and that my house was on the line. I was told not to ignore this message and to call her back immediately. This message was definitely rehearsed, sounded like she was reading from a script. I also received a call from a David from the Commonwealth DPP in Sydney (02) 6152 8631 - an American guy calling about the fact that I was being charged with tax evasion and avoidance. Definitely sounds like a big scam.

Got this today. I suspect they got my number from a Gumtree ad. Also had another scam attempt on the ad - search Gumtree oil rig scam. Gumtree is good but beware scammers.

I also received the scammers call from (07) 3483 0456. The voice is a well educated female (except she cannot pronounce "surveillance") with an officious tone. I know it to be a scam but it annoyed me all the same. The call received 15 December 11.07am and goes as follows:- "High, I am calling you from the Commonwealth Directors of Public Prosecution's headquarters in Queensland representing the Australian Taxation Office. The reason of this call is to make you aware of concern that we have received an affidavit against your name where you are being listed as a primary suspect for the case being filed against your name. And your house is under civilence [sic]. So do not disregard this message and call me back as soon as possible on (07) 3483 0456, I repeat it's (07) 3483 0456. Remember, delay in calling us back may end in legal prosecution for you. Thank you."

Had the same thing, when I asked why they were calling he said really sarcastically to check my voicemail and then asked for my name which I didn't give. Then he called me by name, told me to beware of the police and hung up.

I've received 2 calls today with this message exactly the same. I was in the local shopping centre and spoke to police officer there and he said it's defiantly a scam. Just to be sure I rang the ato and they confirmed its fake.
