Caller: Sam Gilcrist

I got a call from this man looking for my son about a personal matter. He would not say what company he was with, or give any other information except it was a private matter. I believe him to be a debt collector. (My personal opinion) Someone who buys other peoples uncollected debt for pennies on the dollar and then hunts down the person who owes it as best he can. It’s quite a little money maker if you can locate your mark and collect the outstanding debt. I will not give anyone’s number out, family or not unless they can tell me what it’s about. If he were to have said, I’m trying to collect a debt, it wouldn’t sound so much like a scam.

Same thing happended to me a Sam Gilchrist called asking for some with same surname, however worng similar first name. Saying it was for a personal matter.

Has anyone actually gone through with a call from (07) 3422 6736 to see if it ending up being a company or is in fact a load of BS.
I have had calls before from companies chasing money. They may not disclose the information but they always say where they are calling from.

Came from private number - introduced as Sam Gilchrist (Aussie accent) asked for someone in my family with the same surname and wanting their contact details - refused to disclose any information other then it was "a personal matter", I jotted down their number (07) 3422 6736 to pass along. I asked if they were calling from a business and they would not confirm this, saying they did not want to violate my family members privacy. I also asked how they got my number, and he said it was part of a paid online directory that they have access to? All seems a bit sketchy to me...

Caller used wrong first name, correct sirname. Said from some corporation ringing about a financial matter between me and Comm bank. I said Yes? He the wanted my date of birth to correctly identify me. I hung up.

I called back number (07) 3422 6736 spoke to a woman but did not say for what company.
