Someone claiming to be from the Australian Assistance Project calling with permission from the ATO about tax incentives. This number has been reported to the ATO.

Similar scenario about "The Residential Incentive Program" that they are promoting to find a local advisor to call us. Asked their company name as I said I couldn't find that name on ASIC company register - they said they are just a large call centre working for a large financial services company as part of an advertising program to make people aware of the tax concession, they are not a company!

I asked what is the company name on her payslip, because they must be a company. She half-heartedly said "The Residential Incentive Program"... I said I doubt that!

She said they need to get the financial information to determine whether you qualify, so they can pass on to that company. So, who is that company? They won't say. Where is the website where I can see the privacy policy of that company or her company? "There is a web page on the ATO website that explains the policy" - not the answer to my question!

I told her she should raise with her supervisor that they are potentially asking her to collect personal information in breach of the Privacy Act and ask them to provide her with the proper company name and the privacy policy details.

She said they are only asking for general information, not specific information, so does that matter? Yes, it does!

About now I had decided I had given her enough free advice and it was time to move on with life.... now someone should send a link to this page to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner! I just might...

i just had a call from someone named Celia and she said the same. initially i listened and agreed to have someone call me to get off the phone. but i then tried to call this number back and the answering machine said Kevin??? & Barry??? and that the message bank is full.. I will not be dealing with these people.

I'm so glad someone else had the call. Initial call was from Stacey who was getting someone else to call back which they did from a mobile 0411 181 490.

This time the call came from (03) 8842 4460

Claim to be Mike from Oracle ringing about residential assistance program. I told them this is the 3rd time ... said sorry and hung up.

Calls every few days, hangs up after 1 or 2 rings. Says disconnected when calling back.

I got a call from this number.They hung up when I answered. I called back but the message was this number is not connected.

This number doesn't go that far i answer they just hang up but when my wife answers they try to go through the speal

...and they tried calling me again today with no voicemail left...

I also received this call and have reported it to www.scamwatch.gov.au. I encourage everyone to do the same it takes 2mins.

Just had a call from this number. When I said my name (first name only) they hung up immediately.
I called the number straight back and a recorded message said that the number was disconnected.

So sick of call scams they are bottom feeders disrupting people lives only to rip people off, police need to trace there calls and stop this from happening!
The person who called me hung up on me, they are absolute scum bags !!

same as above, residential assistance program or something, wanting to know how much I earned. This was "to help them" work out what assistance I would get. When i refused to give them any type of figure, they just hung up. Ha!

had a call from this number also and they hung up when i answered too. my number is brand new i only got it 1 week ago which really annoys me how these type of people somehow have my number already!

Telemarketer. Some waffle about tax refunds and do I own a home and have income. She got annoyed when I said I wasn't interested in scammers.

Rang my house phone twice in 10 minutes when I retunred the call got a message saying you have rang Kerryn & Barry and the message bank is full obvviously a scam.

Also returned a call from this number and got a message saying I'd reached Ken and Barry and to leave a message, but another saying the message bank was full! From the previous comments, sounds like telemarketing or a scam.
