If you are a Telstra landline customer & want to block nuisance calls, you now have the option of buying a phone from the Telstra Shop that can do this. The phone itself costs $48 and is well worth the investment. Numbers you BLOCK will hear the following message; CALLS TO THIS NUMBER ARE BEING MONITORED BY TELSTRA GUARDIAN; THE PERSON YOU ARE TRYING TO CONTACT IS NOT ACCEPTING YOUR CALLS, SO PLEASE HANG UP.
People you place in your contacts list will get through as usual but anyone with a private / withheld number or a number that is not in your contacts list will hear this message; CALLS TO THIS NUMBER ARE BEING MONITORED BY TELSTRA GUARDIAN; PLEASE STATE YOUR NAME AND THEN PRESS # AND WE WILL CONNECT YOUR CALL. You will then have the option of either accepting or rejecting the call.

In September 2015 a very persistent telemarketer from LeisureCom Group Ltd (a.k.a. escapesplus, ourvacationcentre and hightide holiays) convinced my wife and I that we would save lots of money on our holidays if we purchased a "Business Silver VIP Package" and a “Set 4 Life Ultimate Value Pack”, which cost a total of $1,102.45. Despite endeavouring to use some of the 18 accommodation vouchers over the past 16 months, we’ve discovered that Hightide’s prices were dearer than those available with online companies, such as Booking.com.au, Lastminute.com.au, AMOMA, Agoda, VRBO and Skiddoo. For example, we recently decided to accept Booking.com’s offer for our 2 night’s accommodation at the Best Western Hotel in Bergen, Norway, as it was $AUD90 cheaper than Hightide’s quote. The other bonus was that Booking.com didn’t require a deposit or a booking fee, and we can cancel free of charge if we give at least 48 hours’ notice. Based on our ‘double jeopardy’ experience of spending over $1K on vouchers we’ve been unable to use so far, we recommend that you ignore Hightide’s enthusiastic rhetoric about their great deals and research the offers available online. If you have a fairly complex itinerary, submit the results of your research to a travel agency which promises to match, or better, the online prices you’ve found, and get their consultant to book all of your flights, accommodation and tours. The same applies to travel insurance. By doing this you’ll be saving money, time and effort, and if something goes wrong while you’re travelling you won’t need to contact each airline, hotel and tour company etc. as the travel consultant in Australia is available to rebook everything for you. Happy travels! Peter (PS: Although we’ve been members of Escapes & Hightide Holidays since 2007, we've used only a couple of vouchers since then, as the online businesses have had better accommodation offers. Most disappointing! In fact we feel seriously 'ripped off').

hangs up when you answer it.
hightide holidays comes up with a street address .....569 Rochedale Road, Rochedale Queensland ,
google maps shows it as a private residence - probably paying it off by scamming holiday vouchers

If you ring up Hightide Holidays 1300 769 765) and give them your phone number they can unsubscribe you from their marketing list. They are quite nice about it actually.

Hightide Holidays... They also have a 07) 55... number from the GOld Coast. YES they are real pains. Always trying to sell you vouchers to use on holidays but when you go to book.. funny enough... you can't use your vouchers on that holiday. They should seriously be deregistered as a business

They also call from (07) 3260 7010 and just hang up when you answer. I think they are tracking the phone calls to find your location. Pretty sure they are debt collectors, what do you think?
National Mercantile was suggested.
