My answering machine does a great job for me. I never answer the phone unless I know who is calling. I'm very clear "Leave your message and phone number or you are wasting your time". they never do but they try with some other number or silence number (from time to time) only to get the same result. The trick is: DO NOT BE CURIOUS...NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE YOURSELF !!!

They sometimes ring and hang up because the caller gets paid for contacting you. Their computer logs the call so the caller gets paid. They mostly only do it with people they know will not pay their debts and have no assets etc. You might not pay lion finance but they have to pay their employees. If a supervisor is not around, they dont bother having an argument and coping abuse.... they just hang up after their computer logs the call. After they "complete" the call to you, their computer automatically brings up the next "client/debter". I met my girlfriend after she rang me from AGC finance debt collections. They dont care personally unless they get commissions. If they know a commission / repayment is most unlikely they only care about the computer log of calls made in the shift for their pay.

Loon Finance

Loon Finance told me on a call I recorded that they do use Facebook to harass people. The bulk of your email is just plain wrong. Its the sort of moronic crap they'll tell their idiot employees but is disproved by the actual ACCC guidelines in about 2 minutes. Loon Finance is a f*cking scam, plain and simple, and in the long run they are toast.

Loon Finance harass people by phone because what they propose is 100% illegal. If they put their "proposals" in writing they'd be shutdown. Record your phone calls and take it your lawyer - they'll be shocked.

Disgusted

Received a number of calls from this number and today answered one - a man on the end of the phone didn't initially identify where he was from until i asked. He then asked if i know a particular lady to which i don't. I asked why he would be contacting me about this and asked if they were a debt collecting agency. He said they were a finance company and had business with her. If they have business, then you would have her details. If she chooses not to answer then that is a problem between client and company. I asked how they had me associated with this person and he said i may live in the same street to which i don't. Surely it is illegal to contact people to ask questions about another person - surely it is a breach of confidentiality. I understand that they are chasing money and that people have a responsibility to pay their debts but at the same time what they are doing is just not right.

Not every person that owes money is doing it intentionally. Some are innocent mistakes and some are circumstances beyond there control but to name and shame to people they have to live near is out right disgusting. These calls could have onflow effects if in the hands of the wrong people. Lion Finance employees must really be hard up for employment to have to work at a company like this.

Oh my goodness, just had a missed call from these clowns. Called them back and they are looking for my neighbour, and asked me to put their phone number in his letterbox. Are you serious!!!! Nothing to do with me! When I asked them how they got my number they told me it was publicly available! It should be illegal to call peoples neighbours about their debt!!

Extremely-annoyed

Lion Finance have been harassing me for close to 3 years now.

As in 2011 I was made redundant from my job and at the time was using my credit card for basic needs for the 6 weeks until I My new regular finance started coming in which happened to be a Carers pension due to looking after my disabled mum full time. Started making the repayments on my credit card after cutting it up as there was $5800 owing on it.

Knocked it down to $4500 when out of the blue my car was written off (rear ended) and since it was insured for $6000, I went ok pay the Credit card off in full to my bank which was and still is Westpac. That then left me $1500 for a cheap run about which I actually got local and put another $300 towards and got a 2001 Mitsubishi KJ Verada V6Xi for $1800 which had 10 months rego on it.

So I paid the rest off Westpac said no problems paid in full closed the credit card account as per my request since I was now on government payments and preferred not to get my self back into debt.

All was good for 6 months then the calls started from Lion Finance, They started harassing me with up to 10 calls a day, Ringing my neighbours, Contacting the Senior Pastors of the church I attend, Sending out letters, Sending SMS text messages, Ringing from land line and mobile numbers, Giving personal information to other people they have contacted to try to talk to me but they refuse to talk to me.

Out of frustration a while back I sent them an email with proof that the credit card had been fully paid off and the account closed with Westpac directly.

They then replied stating as a special offer if you pay $4250 of the $6900 owing we will finalise the account, I let rip on them stating the original full amount was only $5800 I got it down to $4500 then paid the $4500 in one lump sum.

They said that is false as they checked with Westpac, So I went to my local branch gave them the info and said can you help. They looked at it laughed and said this is a load of crap rang Lion Finance and said this is such and such from Westpac regarding such and such account, On our end it was fully paid by the customer in branch before you guys even took on the account.

End result I still get regular calls from them and have threatened them with legal action but I think they are getting the message as they are calling less and less

These people have been calling me for months, i never answer. They call from different numbers in different states. When i look up the numbers they're always from Lion Finance. They've left weird voice messages with a computer generated male voice with an american accent telling me he's Sheriff someone or other from the Aust. Tax Office (a sheriff???) and that there are criminal charges being prepared against me for debts owed etc., which is nonsense. I have no debts and never have had. And the ATO knows perfectly well how to contact me and obviously wouldn't attempt to contact me in this crazy way. When the male computer generated voice stops a female voice comes on at the end and says "bye bye" in a strange patronising way. I'm having a lawyer friend of mine call them to warn them about behaving in this way and if they don't stop calling me i'm going to put in a complaint either to the police or the ACCC, ScamWatch, Fair Trading etc. I don't know how they can stay in business behaving this way.

This is a debt collection agency. They trawl through resources like the White Pages and call anyone with a similar name to the person they're actually after. Just had them call me asking if I knew a person with a similar surname, who supposed lives in my city.

What they'll actually get is reported to the ACMA, as I'm on the Do Not Call list.

"Co-operate with collectors and your life won't be so hard."

Hey d*ckwad, I've never had a loan through these people. I've only had one loan in my entire life, for the house. That was paid off 20 years ago (yes, I am older than you, likely wiser as well)

So it's perfectly acceptable for people to complain about debt collectors calling them, when the debt collectors have the wrong contact details.
