Called business number a number of days consecutively asking to pass messages onto different people to return their call. After reading many websites like this, I told her to stop calling as no one would be calling her back.

Have had 2 phone calls from this number asking me if I knew a neighbour that lived across the rd from a residential address that I lived in OVER 15 YRS AGO! I last saw this person they questioned me about some 30 years ago! Unsure how they got my details but asked if I could pass on a message! Couldn't tell me who they were or what it was in regards to, just wanting me to pass this number onto them, giving me a reference number to quote.

Apparently I've had an outstanding Origin debt totaling $1100 when I supposedly lived in Brisbane back in 2011. I've been getting calls for the last six months, at least two a day, from Lion Finance and Baycorp. Debt collectors.
Funny thing is, I was only in Brisbane once for two weeks to visit a friend.
Draw your own conclusions =)

how could they verify if they are speaking with the right person? how could they make sure it is the person they are looking for without proper authentication?

Debt collection agency. They call numerous times and do not accept that the file has been cleared by the company even after providing receipts and reference numbers.

Calling at least 1x day for someone who has not lived here for over 10 years & probably are the same people who also sent debt collectors letters regularly that I just write on RTS - address unknown.I just don't answer their calls these days & they never leave a message.

these people are obviously scam artists - they wanted to know my DOB before they would pass on some important sensitive information to me - what a load of bull! what i don't get is why they aren't prosecuted when their phone number is known?

Mary from Qld phones my home number & asks me to deliver a message to my neighbour as she wasn't returning her calls. I ask how she got my phone number & she says white pages. I said you cannot search in white pages by an address you need to know the persons name. She just kept asking me to give my neighbour a message with a reference number & contact phone number. I tell her to write to this person instead but she says its urgent & could I deliver this message. Don't fall for this, its a scam, apparently there debt collectors & want me to do their dirty work

Bogus debt collecting firm trying to collect on items already settled with provider. They are buying old "debts" or book entries and trying to scare people into contracting to them. Please note you are not 'bound' with them at all. They do not have a contract with you at all. Breach of your personal privacy from the original provider giving your details to them, but ACCC don't care. Also Veda was/is/part owned by Baycorp debt collectors

Lion Financial is a totally different company to Lion Finance. Once is a reputable company, the other is a bottom dweller.

Lady asked my date of birth, and I gave it to her. So annoying, she was saying I owe virgin mobile 13000 $, which is so wrong. She mentioned year 2 years back, but I told her to pay herself, because this is not my name for a very long time as I got married, and I've never used virgin anyway. She was saying about my credit history will be affected, but I say whatever, coz it's not true, told her to send it to court and prove it. This is scam, I wander how can they get away with it, bothering people and causing shock, lucky Her info was old and very wrong, she had my previous address of 10 years ago, and my previous name, that changed 5 years ago. Of course it was a scam. Same as those of kidnapping kids of parents, that have no kids at all.
