Same got an email from Bobby Coombes, fake name of course, saying they wanted to buy a car as a present for their son as a surprise and that they would not be able to deal with the transaction themselves and it had to go through an agent. They then sent an email saying they had deposited the money in my account but that in order for me to access the funds I had to transfer money to their agent first. Total scam, hope people google this before falling for their scams. the email address they used for Paypal was Fund_Verified @ mail2Australia.com

Scam. Story about eldest son, top of class, wants to buy my car advertised on gumtree.

Scam - Contact via email only wanted to buy car for his son's graduation offering more than what we had listed. Then received an email from a dodgy paypal email address From: Service @ PayPal.com.au <Fund_Verified @ mail2australia.com>. Apparently he is in the navy email adress was kelvinbrad5501 @ gmail.com. I'd already give my bank details to transfer his payment just as well there is only $9 in it.

This was a text message I received only minutes after posting an add for my vehicle on Gumtree - I googled the email address and found all these complaints - so glad I did. I am so over these scammers - something serious needs to be done to them!!!!

Then I emailed that mail and a story of working offshore with oil and gas… anyway, didn’t fall for it.

Seems that the saame type of scammer contacted me yesterday, minutes after I placed an advertisement on Carsales. Said his name was Scott Wilson, in the Army, wanted car for his son's graduation present, would pay me $300 more than advertised and he wanted my account details or PayPal details. Too suss for me.

Im gonna try to $cam this scammer back by saying i have my own freight bussiness and I can send the car for free. 2nd to the sting is I will say if he pays me the money for the car i will give him 110% of the car payment in a week if he sends the money asap bc I have a "trade stock bussiness" and also saying we will split the "money investment" wish me luck

Just about identical story.
He has also sent me a fake Paypal message strangely in my name sent to him? Stating I need to pay $1100 to account name Susanne Yvone for transport company before Paypal will transfer the refund into my account.

Similar to the above, I received a SMS to email someone interested in my car from a Gumtree Ad. Seemed like a scam but I went with it for a while to suss him out . The replies are quite scammy but he eventually sent me a photo of a NSW Drivers Licence in the name Clinton Peter Coombes
