Don't fall for this garbage! It was your typical indian scumbags calling to scam you out of various details. This time it was some fantastic new deal regarding my energy bill! Apparently my area had been upgraded and my provider (no effort to even guess my provider) is now giving me 10% off of my bill at which point she then asked for my bill number or whatever she asked.
This is absolutely all a scam! If you are confused and feel otherwise then ask them to send you a letter but do not give them your details because if it was or is (which is highly unlikely) they would have all your details and would send you a letter to start with. No legitimate business would conduct themselves in such a manner.
Whatever you do, absolutely do not give them any personal details or agree with anything they say. If you aren't expecting any calls and want to have some fun keep them on the line for a really long time, put them on hold, speak in circles about random things, ask them how the weather is in india... etc etc. Block the number and keep blocking them. If it is a landline there are plenty of devices on ebay to block numbers as long as you have CallerID enabled which is often charged or free.
When signing up to websites particularly online then maybe misspell your name or use a different middle name completely on each website you visit so when they contact you then you will be able to trace back who it was that sold you out and you'd be surprised how corrupt some companies are. Just make sure you write down the names or variations of your name and the associated website or service on your computer (for efficiency) or a notepad so you can cross reference your culprit.
All the best everyone.

Caller: Scammer 0408 088 825 Definitely a scam. Delay with the connection when I answered. They were calling to advise they are a free service that help individuals access government grants and rebates that they’re entitled to. They were phishing for information such as the address of my home, my income, my job, my husband’s job and income etc. They said they would send someone out to my home to have a free in-home consultation and talk me through the grants I qualify for. Knowing it was a scam, I asked them to send me details of the available booking times and their business address, so I could come to them for a consultation. The caller got quite frustrated and tried to tell it’s much easier if I send my information first and then someone comes out to my home. I told him I would feel much more comfortable if he could email the details so that I could arrange a time to see them, he advised they don’t send emails, all bookings must be made by phone. Once I provide my personal information, they would contact me to arrange a time. Working for a bank I know what queue’s to pick up on, this is 100% a scam. Do not provide any personal information to this caller.

I have had 2 calls in the last week from this number, one at 7.30pm and today at 4.30pm, which is a mobile number, but it is obviously from overseas, as there is a definite gap before they answer, saying they are from the Australian government about solar panels, definitely scammers, I am over these calls, how they get through our phone system is beyond me 🤬

Number called , I didn’t pick up and No voicemail was left. Coincidentally I received a (genuine) email from my power supplier to say my current energy contract is up for renewal. The above posts mention this caller wants to discuss power savings. Are these callers legit or do they somehow have access to details of people who may be about to shop around? I somehow feel it’s the latter.
